I am turning the 9R into a long hauler. I was wondering if anyone has bought the custom seat from Buell and how does it work?
Next, has anyone bought the saddlebags and how are they holding up?
Is the tailbag for the XB worth the money and is it very big?
Last, has anyone change to the lower pegs and does everything work, linkage, ect....

Thanks.

and I get sh*t for posting about wanting an 'ST' version... there's a recent thread on making a R+S bike.

I put the seat on my R about 500 miles ago and my 200lb butt can tell a pretty big difference ( to the better). It seems to increase height and give more leg room, but I also put on the S pegs for the drop. That and the double bubble shield from Zero Gravity make MINE MUCH more livable for over 50 mile play periods.

1) the Buell custom seat is a vast improvement. Very "Corbin-like" in shape (a good thing). I add a wood bead seat cover if the trip is more than 4 or 5 hours and it helps a lot, esp. in the summer.

2) I bought the Oxford bags from the shop at Deal's Gap for about $170 and they fit well.

3) I bought the little tail bag and it's nice for those times you just want to carry a rain jacket and some small items.

4) The lower pegs help a bit. There's a thread, with photos, of the issues on both sides and how I dealt with them. Try a search, or if that doesn't work you can email me.

I agree w/ Fatpony. I've been running the same combination (seat, pegs,Zero Gravity) and its much more comfortable. It does increase the seat height slightly. I rode a little over 2K round trip going to Milwaukee and it worked well. I'm still going to look into the Heli-bar set up offered at a point though.

The XB saddlebags are really more like XB briefcases. The listed weight limit is quite low, and from a size standpoint its difficult to get a Sunday paper in them. I use my Joe Rocket saddlebags for trips instead.

I have seen the Buell saddlebags and to me they are very visually unappealing.

For those who have put a new windshield, has anyone compared the +3" to the double bubble? It was cold this morning and wind hits me right in the neck with the stock windshield.

I have the lowered pegs and I think that they are great! I am 6'3" and need all the room that I can get. I am thinking about getting the more comfortable seat. Maybe this spring.

Anyone with the lower pegs care to give up the originals? I'd like to try the Firebolt pegs on my Lightning. I'm still young & flexible, so comfort is not an issue. I'm just looking for a little more ground clearance now.

And, you can get all those things from me and get 10% Badweb discount!
I can't believe nobody had put in a plug for me on this thread yet so I had to do it myself!
Oh, I would also go with the traction grips, they make a big difference too!

Ride to the edge!

I did over 5000 miles in two weeks on my XBR(check out the tale section under LA to Milwuakee) , I regret not getting the traction grips & a throttle rocker. The seat is worth the money and is 10 x's better than stock, but the secret to doing the 10+ hour riding however was the $40 dollar cycling shorts. The spandex material causes no friction, I rode one day for only few hours without the shorts and was in pain, I felt the difference right away.
