Ok..Now that I got ur attention..thats what I want. Got a 2000 M2 and thought it would look great with a S1 (short single seat tailpiece).

Noticed that the frame work under the tailpiece of my Stock M2 is about 8 or more inches shorter than the length of the tailpiece which lead me to think that a S1 tailpiece might fit.

I morfed up a picture of my M2 and did some digital choppin, cuttin, and pastin..and thought it looked like a cool thing to do with that "roostertailed" M2 of mine... Like the bobtailed look better..

Sound nutty...?...So you Buell guru's...can it be done..I have the chance to buy an S1 tailpiece and seat and kinda thought I'd see if my idea was feasible...

Benmarc: If you want to do it badly enough it can be done. All it takes is money.

Whether or not it SHOULD be done is another story. As cool as the S1's look, they are not, I repeat NOT, comfortable machines for anything more than a short hop!

Trust me on this...

Yes it can be done, although it requires cutting off part of the rear subframe. It'll look better than your picture, too!

Road_Thing... never really considered my Buell a long hauler... When I want to fall asleep, I park my butt on my Intruder...when I want the ride of my life, I let my Buell kick me all the way down the road.

I've never driven a bike that has ever put such a smile on my face as this Buell does..

I haven't driven the Fat Lady Intruder since I got my Buell....doesn't mean I won't...Buell's just alot more exciting and wilder between your legs to drive.

Like a roller coaster ride compared to an afternoon nap on a waterbed....

I haven't put 50 miles on my Vette this year since I got my Buell...rather rip up the roads with my Buell.

Shazam... like the picture...that's the look ...

RT The S1 is a couch compared to the R1. I could do 350 miles on a sitting with the Buell. The last time I put 200 on the R1 I called my wife to come get me with the trailer.

Ben,
There have been several people who have S1'd their M2's. They'll probably chime in shortly on the process. As mentioned above by Apex it does take a little metal work to accomplish based on what others have found.

First of all I won't question your manhood for calling your wife for the trailer. Second of all call me and you can ride an S1 again while I abuse your R1.

sheeeeezzzz.....

I was in your neighborhood today, took the wife to see the worlds most beautiful bike, the Brutale. I had to leave when she put her hands on the red paint while they were prepping it for the new owner. Kids...

I did this conversion several years ago. Apart from buying the S1 tail and seat, it's cheap to do.

I am pretty sure BADS! did that to his M2 and turned it into an S1.

As for Long Haul I rode from St. John's Newfoundland to East Troy, Wisconsin in 3.5 days I think and left my ass somewhere in Michigan on the way there and picked it up again on the way back home.

The S1 is not really all that bad for touring!!!!

Ended up getting an S1 seat and lost out on the eBay bidding for an S1 tailpiece which followed the seat.

Anybody got an S1 tailpiece in good shape they wanna sell me?..

My Project's at a half-assed stand still...

Yeah I did it starting with a new 2000 M2 in November of 1999.By the way I don't own the bike any longer but I know where you could cut to the chase and buy one already done.42MM,RACE KITTED,and lots of chrome.Probably one of the nicer ones you'll see.Talk to Dave at Waterloo.

And was or is sitting in a showroom in Waterloo Iowa just waiting for you.... (DaveS should magically appear any moment now). ;)
It is a nice looking bike in person, and hard to believe it started out as an M2, and needs to be ridden more.

Thanks Fuscat that was a hard one to let go of.But I had to have a 12 and couldn't have both. But whoever buy's that bike there will not be any disappointments. The sub frame is a exact and I mean exact duplication of a S1 right down to every measurement.

Mike I intended the bike to be a show bike and I was about 75% done when I got rid of her.Of coarse the case covers on both sides were chromed when you saw it at the 20th.That picture doesn't have them on and that picture doesn't do the bike justice.

Man I wish I could. :) That is a hell of a lot of loving care put into her. I wish I had the $$ to make my S1 stand out like that. Very pretty!

Banmarc,

Are you looking for the twintail or the solo seat section.

I knew of a retailer here in Canada that had a twintail carbon fibre piece at an unbelieveable price.

E-mail me and I will get you the details - call them they still may have it.

Newfie_buell....Will need a Solo tailpiece. The solo seat I just bought on eBay (below). I was going to it pair up with the matching tailpiece (also below) the same seller had going off just after the seat but I think I got "snippered" and lost out on the tailpiece..
