Has anyone added a power outlet to an XB9S? I'm thinking of buying a GPS but don't know if it's possible and how difficult it would be. Any ideas?

Either drill a hole and side of the front faring, and mount a 12v jack there, or just directly hardwire. Its not hard, i got about 5 things hooked up that way.

What kind of outlet?
Cigarette outlets are rather large but BMW types fit easily enough.

I use this for the ol' battery tender
(because after I moved my grip heater switch to the handlebars I had a this ugly hole that needed to be filled so I enlarged it slightly and installed the BMW outlet)

I was wondering what kind of outlet, too.

Isn't there an accessory circuit built into the wiring that can be used? Looks like there is one in the manual.

I was going to do the same thing MetalS did, but because I have an HID light, I have the ignitor and said wiring under the flyscreen. I had no extra room.

What I did instead is cannibalize a 12v cell phone car charger (use what is appropriate for your device) then tap into the "City light" wiring.

On my bike that mean I have a switched USB power source. I use it for phone/gps/pda.

Metalstorm, ha I might be doing the same mod as you. I have the switch for my heated grips right there, and I am kinda getting sick of reaching down there to turn on or off. How much was the factory switch?

Froggy You must excuse me but I have no electrical wiring experience. I really like the setup metalstorm has in the pics. That's exactly what I want. Is there a special outlet that I need to get or is the trick in the wiring? When you say hardwire do you mean straight to the battery? Excuse my ignorance but I want to make sure I don't start a fire under my seat.

I tapped into the unused power line for the European light under the flyscreen. Easy to get to, and its all fused and stuff already (labeled "accessory" in fuse box). I still have each of my devices on their own fuses so that they don't take out the whole system. Easy to do : )

I have my outlet wired straight to the battery with an inline fuse. I figured that was my best route since it was to be used mainly (pretty much only) for the battery tender.
I have it grounded to one of the screws that hold the headlight bracket in place.

I got my outlet from Aerostich but many, many places stock them.
Just google BMW outlet and you'll find lots of sources.

Edit: If Radio Shack has them I'd wager it's the exact same thing : )
