Got my cable but when I connect it to my laptop and the bike EMCspy is not reading it. EMCSpy says comport 2 open, but it times out if I try to do anything, and none of the gages respond in the window. Anyone have an issue like this? My laptop has vista, and installed drives for the cable automatically. Cant even get the ones off the site to install. Dont know if its a port problem or a vista ecmspy problem. The trouble shooting guide has nothing on the port settings either. Nice guide. This is the exact cable im usiing http://www.deutschconnector.com/products/buell_interface_cable.html

Vista, seemed to have installed the correct drivers; driver version says they are from FTDI. And there are plenty of port editing settings under the device driver properites. Not sure if they are correct. Maybe someone with the cable installed can tell me their settings under port settings in device manager?

I recently started using ecmspy on vista as well. sometimes I can only get data from
the ecm in "snapshots" by fetching the data and other times it reads out in real time.

I haven't figured out exactly why yet, but I'm working on it. I'm also trying to figure
out how to save a copy of my ECM's programming. I looked at the guide, but I guess it will
take a bit more experimentation to work it out.

Well ive worked on PC's for over 10 years, and this vista shit dont really seem to work with anything. I think if I could get the settings to someone with it working I could get it to work, but none of the tech info has anything about the bit rate, baud rate etc, (which will all cause problems) of the cable. Im going to try my other laptop with XP and see what happens with that.

My laptop runs on Vista. It works completely fine?

This is what I do.

1: Open EcmSpy
2: Connect cable to computer.
3: Connect cable to motorbike
4: Click cable to open com port(I use #4 on my laptop)
5: Click keys and all is good.

What I do every time 0 problems.

Vista also installed the drivers automatically for me. I didn't touch the computer while it was doing this.

I'll try it in that order. However I might of tried this.

So this voids my warrenty? How exactally are they going to know? I'm only going to reset my TPS if needed. And maybe the AFV.

As long as you arent screwing around, and just resetting TPS and watching the pretty lights, your not going to void the warranty. Backup your ECM before you do anything : )

Make sure that when you try to connect to the bike's ECM, the key is turned ON and the red engine cutoff switch is set to ON as well.
