Just wondering what kind of life i'll be expecting out of the xb12x. What kind of miles are people get out of these bikes. I had a 04 honda vfr800 and seen these bikes lasting past the 70k. Is the H-D engine going to stay alive this long? My bike is new with only 1600miles on the clock.

I think Glitch (9s) is pushing over 50k. FatBastard and I were talking last night and he said he's over 16k on an 06

I have 40,000 on my XB9S. I road race it, commute, and sport tour. I've had to replace the fan twice, one injector, and the oil pressure sensor. The motor and trannie should go 100,000 miles.

If I get 60k out of it, I'll be happy!

past the 70k. Is the H-D engine going to stay alive this long?

It better. I've got 43k on my 06 Uly and I'm not ready for it to die anytime soon.

Your wheel bearings will fail, your muffler will rust, and your front break will pulse. You make break a belt That is what fails on Ulys. I almost never hear of motor or transmission failures.

Interesting question but it all depends how you ride it...

it can last 10,000 miles or it can go over 100,000 miles...

The nice thing about these engines is that as long as you take care of the bottom end it's very simple to put a fresh top end on them if you have too much leakage. It would be like getting a brand new engine...

What can of mileage do you get out of your other vehicles?

I've seen motors that were done in 50-100 miles....but those were race motors.

In street trim the motor and transmission should be good for 70k with reasonable care taken.

Oh yeah, I had 90,000 plus on my H-D Big Twin.... Top end was done once and a lifter went out once... Leaked a little, but otherwise ran great til I sold it!

While I have always adored the VFR v4 (especially the gear cam version) I would say a well flogged buell motor will most likely out live a well flogged VFR motor. The VFR motor was/is maintenance intensive (especially the v-tech version). A lot of people skip routine maintenance because of cost. I looked long and hard at getting a vtech version until I got routine quotes of $700+ for a valve adjustment.

There is a famed UK moto publication that attempted to kill an xb12 (they were not fans). After beating the bike to death they performed a tear down. They were shocked at how over built the motor was. There is a link out there to this article, but I don't have it handy. Maybe another BWebber could dig it up?
