Everyone is going to tell you to do a muffler and filter. So let me be the first to start to agrement. From what I've seen with other buells, throw on your favorite exhaust and a K&N filter. Not the open airbox just the filter. Throw on a race ecm and have a nice day. But you can get away with no race ecm, if your tuner savy just download ecmspy, make yourself a cable and go to town. Or you can be like me and run a pipe and k&n with no tune and not worry about it. But I'm also running an 08 and I'm told the 08's new fuel system is more forgiving. More things to do would be a catch can, I personally LOVE my HID's and in the bolt they look amazing. And if you do the lights keep the light deflector in on the low beam, you WILL blind people with no deflector. I also like the buell riders seat, nice, comfortable, and with the embroidered logo it give the bike a slight custom seat look. Good luck on the bike, let us know about which way you decide to go for mods. |

Hokay - as a counterpoint: work on suspension, tires, brakes before messing with the motor. $1000 worth of suspension will make you MUCH faster than $1000 worth of motor work - unless you are only interested in straight line speed. If you're interested in going faster, having a bike that handles predictably will go much farther to get you "up to speed" than simply dialing up more power. Getting the hadling dialled in DOES require some homework though and might be why there seems to be so little interest in handling as opposed to power. (but suspension/handling is just my own "thing" - I got the bikes for handling in the turns NOT for straight line performance) That being said, there are many simple things that can be done to the motor to smooth out the power delivery without hammering the reliability too badly. (intake/exhaust/ECM or ECMSpy) |

Welcome to the madness that is BadWeB and Buell ownership! There are loads of ways to make your Buell "perfect" and individuality is not just encouraged, but treasured here. Even the Buell engineers walk the parking lot at homecoming to see what we are doing with the bikes. Steve_Mackay's "Uly-Bolt" may have inspired the XT as one example. Don't be afraid to ask questions, but try to check the knowledge vault first or you'll catch flack from some of the members. There is a TON of information available here, and some of the nicest people in motorcycling to boot. |

Welcome aboard! Mods I would suggest: *SpecialOps muffler *Dark Horse Moto sliders *Suspension work -- find some place reputable around you -- progressive shocks will help loads but even simply getting your suspension dialed in for your weight/riding position would be an important improvement. *Redo the seat ...oh, and ceramic coating your headers is a good mod too! Also, get an ECMSpy cable and the program and start learning about your bike. Cheers! |

Welcome. I've got an 05 12 myself. I've got a Drummer pipe and K&N filter. No race ECM. Mine runs like solid gold and I love every mile I put on that bike. I'd recommend Darkhorse Moto Sliders. Also, if you haven't, upgrade your stock brake pads. I put Lyndall Gold's on mine and the difference is incredible. (Message edited by marko138 on June 22, 2008) |

being in GA I'll bet Glitch and the boys know someone in your area who can help with the ECM reset. |
