Sorry if this has been asked a million times, but i'm sick of searching for it. Im very interested in trying this ECMspy on my xb12r with race ecm to see whats the deal. Where do I get this cable?? I cant find a clear cut "this is what you need" post or link, and where to get it. I want a cable that goes from the bike to the USB port on my laptop. Thats it. Thanks in advance. From Gunther himself (I just used "ecmspy cable" in Badweb search)
quote:Did you try a forum search? A google search for "ecmspy cable" gives you ten pages of hits also. As mentioned here http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=142838&post=1093349#POST1093349 already, you might purchase the cable directly from the manufacturer, either single or bulk, if you don't find another source. (We did mention the manufacturer on our website, didn't we? There's even a link to them.) This is the direct link to FTDI's webshop: http://apple.clickandbuild.com/cnb/shop/ftdichip do a search for TTL and select the wire ended version. You could get the Deutsch plug from some ebay shops and from every Buell or Harley-Davidson workshop. They are also used widely in trucks, buses and agricultural vehicles. Or you may perhaps contact Deutsch IPD or LADD Inc. directly. All required part numbers could be found at the ecmspy website also. Regards, Gunter
Hope that helps (Message edited by slaughter on June 20, 2008) |

http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?qs =Xb8IjHhkxj6KCuA6LC9j5Q%3d%3d You need one of those, along with the plug that connects to the bike. I don't have the part number for that as I already had one lying around... That said... You could use any four pin plug you like really, you'll just need to change the plug on the bike side of the connection too. I'm sure you can find a four pin plug suitable at your local True Value or something. I suppose changing the plug on the bike would void any sort of warranty and then you couldn't hook a DT to it but once you have ECM Spy who cares . |

Well voiding the warrenty is out of he question. I bought the 5 year extended, with road side assistance, free tire replacement yada yada, gives me like 8 years of warrenty. I just want to make sure the TPS is zero'ed in. Thanks for all the replies! |

www.ecmspy.com Everything you need to know is on that site. Download the how-to guide. It is a word for word step by step on how to get ecmspy to work properly for you. It's stupidly easy. (Message edited by mr2shim on June 22, 2008) |
