Posted today about the cg City X suspension switch and I had some good feedback. Well, now my cg is having some problems. Today, while I was warming up the bike before riding, it died while idleing. Twice. The idle was rough also. It would start strong and then dip to about 800 rpms and back to a 1000 and it will go back and forth and then die. Also while riding, before coming to a full stop at a light I kicked into neutral and it died while I was still going about 7 mph. My fluids are good and I'm running 20/50 HD synthetic with about 200 miles into the oil. The only upgrades are a jardine exhaust and k&n air filter. No upgrade to the ecm. Any ideas before I get raped at the local dealership?

with the Jardine and K&N you are going to be running pretty lean, more than the ECM can manage as far as I know. Either the race ECM or some ECMspy remapping seems in order.

You might also have some electrical going on -- check your wiring for chaffing just to be sure.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in with way better advice though. Hope you get is sussed.

Cheers,
Ret

How many miles are on the bike? Could be the throttle body seals have dried out and are leaking.

Indy, its an 05 that I bought about 2 1/2 weeks ago and it only has 3800 miles on it. The guy I bought it from babied it and it was garage kept.

I hate to be the one to say this, but TPS reset is a good start.

Last week my 05 XB9SX started to idle rough and die while idling. I have ECM spy so I reset the TPS and the symptoms went away, and have not yet returned. So if you have access to it, its something quick and easy to try before heading off to the shop.

Also you could pull the plugs and make sure they are both dry. and in the process you check the plug wire connections.

+1 to the TPS, its the easiest thing to check and fix, so do that first.
