The best part about owning a Buell is the complete package. Looks, handling, and knowing that unlike the imports, the chance of seeing another bike exactly like yours are slim.
The worst part- having some jerk with no insurance take it all away.

The best part about owning a Buell in the UK is....They are still quite rare, despite advertising in all the major publications.

For me is the looks,Noise,Torque, and the constant "What is it?" from joe public. I can always spot my bike in a carpark,it normally has at least 2-3 other bikers standing around it.

The downside is the service intervals and the "fixed" pricing.

What about having Harley riders gawping at it and saying

a) What is it........dont these guys read any bike mags
b) where is the exhaust

Having a cop ask you what it is ... I thought these guys knew everything.

another point i have is that , because of the comparative rarity of Buells ..I have found that on average other sport/streetfighter riders ..will flash or wave because they recognise the bike ...on the other hand a lot of cruiser riders - Harleys plus the others dont tend to ...my theory about this is with there being a lot of new riders coming in on the Harley myth..they are afraid to wave in case they lose control and fall off.

another point ...some of you guys must have fallen ..I have 2 or 3 times ,I was speaking to a Fat Boy rider last week and mentioned this..he looked at me like I was from outer space...its not as if I make a habit of it..... in the UK ,we basically think if you have never fallen , you arent riding hard enough!

Thats the end of this stream of consciousness

I've not fallen yet and I must admit, I don't want to. I know I'm not as talented a rider as a lot out there but I push myself, just don't get too crazy.

Anyway, I like the looks my bike gets. Just the other day I met a neighbor of my brother's (hottie and she said; "Oh, so that's what a Buell looks like?" ('00 M2).
I said "yea, wanna go for a ride?"
"Sure" chaching!!
When you have something so much fun to ride, those little extras are icing on the cake.

And answering "A Buell" to which the cop replies "Oh yeah? Who makes it?"

I'd say Glitch wins, I'll also admit I've never thought about getting an FJR while I was riding Buell.

Now sitting at my desk reading motorcycle.com is another story...

Yea, I've had guys pull up to me at a light and say "nice bike, what is it?" Well, the big bold letters on the gas tank may be your first clue!!!

And NO, it's not French.

Even the Cop that stopped me in Quebec knew what the S1 was.

He did not like my pipe!!!

Best part of owning a Buell is being able to kick the sportbikes arses on tight twisty roads like I did last night. Woooooooo Hooooooooo still pumped over that one.

Speaking of falling down - There's 3 kinds of motorcycle riders: those who've crashed; those who are going to crash; and those who lie.

What does it mean when the rear tire has blisters on it near the edges and the middle section looks like crumbled up art gum eraser?

Not to hijack the thread or anything, but right now I just wish I had the experience of knowing the WORST thing about owning a Buell (Barring spark/roadrash causing incidents anyway...).

Worst experiences seem to be isolated to a few specific individuals whom for the most part are easy to find.

See?

Dyna,
How was the ride eastward? For a weekend run you put on a few miles, especially if you had any time to do anything while you were there (which it sounds like you did). Something like 900 miles each way?

I don't want to KNOW the worst thing... I want the experience. That way I'll be an owner of a Buell through said experience and afterwords. All in good time I guess.

Anyway, continue with the best things...

Mike, 2300 miles rd trip. Left thursday night at midnight & was home 6 am monday morning. Had the cookout in New Hampshire at scooters place, rode Mavs X1 & Andys FZ1..nice bike. Went to Salem MA..home of the witch trials. Pretty cool town, lots of narrow 1 way rds & old old homes. On the way home I passed within 30 miles of NYC but didnt have time to go visit. All in all a very enjoyable weekend.

Heres a link to some pics http://www.americanthunderbike.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=11;t=0 00008

Heres Andys FZ I rode.
