I’m looking to correct a little rough running below 3000-3500 RPM caused most likely by a lean mix. I wonder if a Race ECM will help. American Sport Bike and Buell both sell Race ECM’s. American Sport Bike says their Race ECM has a richer Air/Fuel open loop map than the stock ECM.

I have the K&N filter but still have the stock muffler. Any performance gains would be a plus, but for now I’m mainly interested in smoothing out the engine.

Anybody have any experience with these ECM’s?

How well will it function with the stock muffler?

When a new ECM is installed does the odometer go to zero, or is the odometer mileage retained elsewhere?

Why are you running below 3000 rpm?
Open loop starts around 3500 rpm.
A K&N by itself ain't going to do much for you.
A Race ECM with no performance mods likely won't get you anything but a rich running engine. Carbon build up.
Odometer is stored elsewhere.
You would need a TPS reset with a new ECM.

Odometer is stored in the gauge cluster. Race ECM is designed for the Race Pipe, so it will not control the valve in your stock pipe. You could wire the valve open, but i recommend a different pipe (Drummer).

ECMSpy sounds like the solution for you -- data log your bike during a run and see what's going on. The Race ECM is really only good if you go with the whole kit since that is what it was programmed for -- if your don't have all the pieces it isn't gonna do much good.

I was just today comparing the 07 Race ECM with the 07 Stock ECM using EcmSpy. I was surprised to see that from 1900 rpms to 8000. the Race ecm was actually more lean than the stock map, sometimes as much as 20 points leaner. From 1900rpm down, the map is mostly the same, but below 20% TPS it is again more lean than the stock map.
Im thinking of manually entering the race map numbers to lean out my rich running Uly instead of using the race Ecm. this way i can keep my exhuast valve working.
What ya'll think?

What's a "07 Race ECM"?

I should have said the 2007 Buell race Ecm. the one to be used with the race pipe and air filter. Im told that there is is different race map for each year '06 and '07. but i have not found a 2006 race map anywhere online yet to compare it.
