Ok first off I have ridden the XB9R & was a little underwhelmed with it. Today Dave had a 9S with the race kit for me to try out...no 12's available unfortunately.

Anyways it was actually pretty damn nice. I pulled out of the dealer & 2 quick shifts later I looked down & was doing 75mph in a 35 zone:D Damn bike felt a lot smoother than my X1, that 75 felt like 40.

No real curves around there so I just took a few corners at a decent clip & she fell right in & felt stable. Made a few runs thru the gears from about 50 up to 90. Saw a tad over 100 at 1 point & the bike still felt stable & planted & this was with a light rain falling.

Figured it was time to attempt a few wheelies...hmm doesnt appear to do em as easy as the X1 where I could just roll the gas on & stand her up. So I chop the throttle in first gear & then nail it & the front end comes right up. I dont get nutz as I am still getting used to the bike so its a small wheelie. Do a couple more little ones just to get the hang of em again..been a year since I rode a bike that could do wheelies:D Last one I tried the tire just spun on the damp pavement so that was the end of those.

All in all I would give the little 9 a thumbs up, decent power but nothing crazy. Would I buy one? No, simply because for myself I want more torque. I am used to the X1 power & really want to ride the XB12, I think thats the bike for me.

PS..the S is definately a lot more comfy for my aged bones. But I would love to try a 12R with the S bars & pegs on it.

PS..heard a 12S with the D&D muffler on it. Real nice & throaty. Looks sweet too.

So, Dyna; do you prefer the black or the red?

With the R I like both colors but would probably lean towards the red. On the S I like the black..in my opinion the red on the S looks like crap.

I would probably get a red R woth S pegs & bars & pick up a set of Blue bodywork. Get a set of 9 rims & have them powdercoated a gloss black. That would look tuff!! All black & blue.

Yo Dyna my man... Blue and Black is my color scheme.. So you'll have to ask nice and then pony up the appropriate user fees.. at some point.. Hmmmm..??

I too have thought of getting a 12 and shifting over the 9's blue body.. of course, I'm also thinking of putting the black bodywork on my 9R and then going with blue letters.. You know, this could be a cool convert-a-bike type thing!

Later,

I have 2 sets of bodywork for my X1. Orange & Black. I can do a complete swap in about 20 minutes. Almost like having 2 different bikes..only problem with that is in the case of my X1 its like having 2 broken down bikes:D

And yep, I think a 12R with Blue plastic & black wheels would be so cool looking. Get the Black jet hot coating on the pipe to complete the look.
Plus wouldnt have to any cleaning on it...not 1 shiny spot anywhere, very urban warfare style bike.

Dyna,

I had a XB9R and traded up to the 12 about 3 weeks ago. Just got back from riding with a couple of freinds. One on a 929 Honda and the other on a Busa. The 929 and Busa can take me on the highway but when we hit the foothills and found a nice curvey road I left the 929 and the mighty Busa in the dust. If you like the 9 you'll love the 12. It pulls hard right from the bottom straight to redline. Very smooth power band compaired to the 9. Don't get me wrong, I loved my 9R with the race kit but this 12R is even better and its in stock form.

Come on Dyna Black and Gold has been done and done kinda reminds me of the 1976 Smokey and The Bandit car (Trans AM) there was one of those at every corner back then.

No saying I don't like it.It just seems like it's been used so much by all motor company's in some way or another don't you think????Black & Blue sounds cool.If I get sick of the red I may go back to Blue Streak and have it painted,I never get sick of Blue.Blue body,Amber wheels Hmmmmm sound's slick.
