Well, I have been waiting on my insurance co. to get me some numbers on what I am going to get out of the accident. While I have been waiting for this I have been thinking alot. I think I'm just going to take the money and run. I really enjoyed the XB, I just haven't had any luck finding another Blue one. I wont be able to afford an 04 so I think I will just bow out now before I get even more discouraged. I am already going to take a thousand or so hit on this one, and I wont be able to recover that. It's been very nice dealing with everyone here and meeting several of you. All of you take care and enjoy the miles.

Ben

Dave, sorry it's just that I'm getting really down about this whole insurance thing. They rode my ass telling me that I had to get my wreck into a shop. Now that it has been there, I'm getting passed around like a cheap hooker. I really want to get another, I just don't like being in the dark about my own business. Yes I am venting and more than likely feeling sorry for myself. It is just really hard to watch all these beautiful days go by and have to go get in the car to run to Burlington. (shh, I'm going to Heartland to put in a resume.) I guess if you can't show em how to sell Buells as a customer, then you might as well try to show em as a salesman? By the way do you know if I am supposed to retain the salvage or if Buell is still interested in that?

Ben

P.S. I am putting you down as a reference.

Ben,
It sounds like the insurance company agents are playing their games with you. They seem to want to wear you down to keep themselves in control and settle for less. Find one name in the insurance company, send them a letter, and cc your local state insurance review board. Stay with just one contact and if they try to pass you off then get a lawyer if you can find one to take the case. Point out that all you want is a quick and fair resolution, stress the fair over the quick. Hope things improve on all fronts.

Ben, I know that dealing with insurance can be a hassle. Don't give up. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help!

I'd be happy to give you a reference for your job hunt and help you in any way I can if you get the job. Good luck.

Ben, the insurance deal can be a nightmare but remember that ultimately its your decision as to what happens. You pay them to protect yourself & your property. Dont let them push you around.

When I had my accident last year it sure sucked. I ended up not being able to ride my bike for 6 months but in the end it was the best thing that could have happened. They paid off my bike, I bought her back & used the money I got to fix it up the way I wanted. Its too bad about the Buell depreciation deal. There is no way I could have sold my bike for what I settled for.

Or could this be a case of you arent really 100% thrilled with the bike you had & this is a way out for you?

PS..just because you dont or wont have a Buell doesnt mean you cant come around. I havent even seen my X1 in a yr yet unfortunately for some folks I am still here:D

LOL, thanks Keith, NoGo on the Heartland thing anyway, they already filled the positions. They did have a red XB12R and a black S. Asked about the R and they could get it to me in mid to late October. Guess I just needed to look at some XB's up close again. Told Connie about my thoughts on not getting a bike again and she(as scared as she is to see me on one again) said no way, you ARE getting another one. She said she wont ride with me for awhile, but that she couldn't handle me without one.

Dave,
After talking to the Heartland sales guy, My intentions are this....
#1 Blue 9R
#2 Riding Gear.
#3 WileyCo exhaust
#4 Dealing with Waterloo.
Do I get Frequent Buyer miles?
Oh yeah they haven't sold any 12's yet. The 3 9's they had were March '02 builds. They had cute little signs that said Please don't sit, this seat is reserved for the new owner. Obviously I wasn't the new owner.
Ben
P.S. Guess the Subject needs to read Go ahead Buy XB's.

I tried to buy the red XB12R from them, I had it sold. I had to send Doug all the way to Duluth for one. They wouldn't let me have the one at Heartland.

I will scour the earth for a Blue one for you but we have to get it done before the end of Sept if possible, got some factory money riding on it!

Jeez Ben, I figured the list should go like this,
#1 deal with Dave at Waterloo
#2 Blue 9R
#3 Gear
#4 Wileyco exhaust

Dave,
Wow, you are right. The silly internet must have mis-comunicated it out. I just talked to the Total loss Dept. and he mentioned 3 different times that it was a used bike(since I bought it) so it wouldn't get as much as new, and sport bikes don't hold their value. Let the games begin, I guess.

I was at an HD shop about 25 miles or so west of Flagstaff AZ on I-40 about 2 weeks ago and they had 2 blue XB's...

Just thought I'd mention them. They were 03's I think. One R and one S I think.

I think insurance companies and insurance salesman are outstanding! They (including your salesperson) really look out for you in a very personal like way and always place you high on their priority list.

Thanks for the chuckle Jim.
The truth is: Some do, some don't.
And some attorneys don't really chase ambulances.

Easy,
That's actually not a bad idea, one of them there potential win-win sort of deals.

Sam,

Your right about Connie, she is very understanding after a situation like this one! Plus she lets Ben come out and play with the Boys all the time!! She is definately more understanding than my little boss! Mine wants me to ride so that I get out of her hair for awhile but insists I stay away from those KCMOBBer's especially that Sam character! LOL

Well, so far the insurance hasn't called today and I called Buell cs to see if there was any interest in my XB. There is none so I won't retain the salvage, Would be no way to recover a 30% loss.

What is the insurance company offering to sell you the bike for as parts salvage? Might be some interest around here if you have the numbers for something else to consider.

Mikej, They said 30% of whatever it's value is. I am still waiting to hear what they place the value at. The engine should still be good and that's about it, well maybe the cool blue valve caps I put on there. Man, I loved that bike!

Oh, understood. So if they say it was worth $7,000 then your salvage cost would be $2,100. Just watch out for their adjuster trying to play the 10cents per mile depreciation the opposing insurance company tried on me with my bike.
