Well I'm going to the dealer this weekend and I'm choosing between 3 bikes:
2004 xb12r $6500 with 7000 miles
2007 xb12r $8500 with 3000 miles
2007 xb12scg $6500 with 500 miles
As you can see the SCG is the better value but I really like the sportbike seating position and look. My first question is if I go with the SCG how much is it going to cost to get the R front fairing put on I dont care about the tail? Are the model improvements between 2004 and 2007 worth $2000? Should I just fork out the money for the 2007 is it a good value?
Thanks

Dominic, depending on how tall you are. i would go with the scg and put the r front on it. you would be getting a newer bike. plus i think they look sweet with the r front end on an s. i have the scg and love the height of it. i am 5'10" with a 30" inseam. i can ride the others but the scg just feels right. the only difference between the two is, the scg has lower suspension and 1"lower pegs. so change the pegs and put the r front end on. then you will pretty much have the bike you wanted.

Thanks Point_doc

Gary, I think you are right I don't think it will cost me nearly $2000 to but a bolt front end on the bike. I am only an inch taller than you and the bolt felt alittle to high for me so the scg is probably perfect. Thanks for your help.

6500.00 for an 04 with 7k seems a bit high as does the 8500.00 for the 07 with 3k. An S and an R sell for the same price, why would the 07 Scg be 2k less with less miles? 6500.00 for the Scg is a smokin hot deal if there's nothing wrong with it.

+ there are people that would be willing to trade standard suspension for your low. You might even be able to get someone to trade a R front for your S............. Stranger things have happened. : )

Just slap an 1125r fairing on it.

I have an '07 12R and love it. That said, I would suggest the Scg -- very nice deal and the bottom line is you can swap for the shiny bits you want later or even just buy them outright considering the very nice deal you can get on the Scg. For instance I want to put an Scg tail & suspension on my R and I am planning on trading for it/buying the parts, and I know there are others who want to do other trades too.

I would offer $6000-$6200 for it though -- all those prices are a bit high for used bikes, and they will probably be trying to sell you on extras like service plans and what not. Oh, and get them to put some shorty CRG levers and some better grips (Tractions are what I run) -- those are the two best mods starting out for comfort.

My .02 cents. No matter what it's a Buell!
