Not sure if anyone has posted about this but I was talking to a parts guy at (a dealer that shall not be named) and he said the saddle bags for the XB are pending obsolete.

Anyone have any info about this? I am wondering if they are being dropped for a new/better/different or just being dropped. I want to pick up some small bags for my 12R but if something better is coming then I would wait, if not I will buy the ones available now. Ideas/advice/rants?

Sorry if this has been talked about before -- new to me. Cheers!

IMO - there are likely better, cheaper, bags available. The main benefit to the Buell ones is that they're made to fit the bike. ; )

I've got a pair of soft saddlebags I got off of eBay from a local (to me) distributor for $65. They fit well and hold a lot more than the Buell ones, but YMMV.

I'm about to pick up a Ventura rack/bag for my XB9R, and my next bike's definitely going to have hard saddle/tailbags, though.

Interesting.

Maybe the XB is becoming obsolete as well?

"Maybe the XB is becoming obsolete as well?"

Very very doubtful.

It would've been a major waste of time(money) to completely redo the '08 oil pumps and cranks and FI, just to cancel them all a year later.

Possible, but unlikely.

: | Having worked at Destination, and knowing who you speak of, I can assure you that one, They are NOT a sponsor on the Board. The XB is on the slate for the FORESEEABLE future. (both quotes from Erik & Flickinger have pointed to the continuing platform of air cooled bikes) There are new bags and products every year, the new parts catalogue is in August. If you need bags now, there are some generics that will fit your bill for a pinch until any "New" ones come out.
Ifn you want to talk baggin on a BUELL, come see me in in Silverdale. Trust me, I have sliced that loaf of bread six ways to Sunday to get answers for myself and customers.

I am just curious about what may or may not be coming down the line for the XBs as far as bags -- seems like Buell is planning on keeping the XB line around for a while yet but you have to wonder what they have in mind when the race kit is gone now, these bags are pending, and who knows what other parts as well. We'll find out one way or another.

I might head up to Silverdale on a nice day -- it's a bit of a ride from Oly but a nice ride last time I went up that way.

Oh, edited previous post to omit the non-sponsor's name.

A possibility is that they are making bags that will fit both the XB and the 1125r. That is assuming they don't fit both now.

a lil fabbin, some ingenuity, maybe a bit of beer, and damnit man, a Bueller will answer the question for ya. The brackets are a lil rough, but they get the job done, and XL1200R (Mark) did a hell of a nice job.

I think Buellray is on the money. Since the 1125 and the XB share (more or less) the same rear section, I bet that Buell is going to offer a higher tech solution like what the BMW K1200R offers, and it'll be retrofitted to the XBR's.

Hope it is a new XB/1125 update (bigger would be great!) -- just getting annoyed that I don't know what is coming so I choose to get some bags now or wait.

I would love the bags XL1200R fabbed but there aren't enough hours in the day for me right now -- maybe as a winter project.
