Hey all, Ill be trading in my Dyna Wideglide for a new XB12S, and I was wondering if anyone knew about a low coming? Im 5'4 and could really go for the low seat height. The dealer is willing to put the Low suspension on for me, but I always like out the factory work better. I CANT WAIT FOR MY BUELL!!!

Daves,

Buell needs to know what a hit their low is for shorter riders. I'm 5' 6".

There's no other sport bike that gives the shorter rider what the low does. NOT making a 12L means missing opportunities.

I hear you. I was very excited when they came out with the 9 low. it meant at least 3 almost instant sales that would not have happened otherwise.
I'm all for a low version of the 12, I just haven't heard anything about one coming out, doesn't mean it won't.
In the meantime, for those of you looking for a 12 low, we still have the 9 and with some mods(with the money you'll save on the 9) we can make it walk all over a 12. You just can't get red or the amber wheels. Of course we can fix that too but for a price.
Or, you can buy a 12 and have it lowered with 9 parts.

I dont know about that. The 12 is $2000 more than the 9..we are talking 2004 models here. For $2000 you cant get a whole lot done to the bike that will kick a 12's ass. Shazam just got done with the 1200 conversion on his 9 & he is getting 100rwhp, the 12 is putting down 92-94 rwhp.

I dont know how much the complete conversion on his bike cost, but I would bet anything its a lot more than $2000.

Finally someone lists the price it cost for the conversion. Thanks Shazam for listing it for those who might be interested.

Heres the rundown as he posted..
$1000 for the bore kit.
---$1100 for the head work. I bought new heads and sold my old ones when they sent me the stageIII units ($500 for new, sold the "used" set for $400}
---$1350 for the force pipe and PC
---$650 Labor on the motor itself
---$375 for the boring of the throttle body and manifold (out-sourced)
---$37.50 for TPS reset at High Country HDB
---$50 miscellaneous gaskets and fittings...

these are all advertised prices... I did not have any shipping charges due to the fact I conveniently had friends traveling through the area at the right times.

there was also a charge for the shop time this past weekend.....dyno tuning.

what's that? 4560 and change

Dyna, $8000 for an '03 (which there are still plenty of....) or $12000 for an '04 xb12 puts you right in the park.....

I know where you'd spend the extra $560 and change!

It's only $10,995 for the 12, assuming you can get one. Wish I could have afforded a 12 but that was out of the question. Picked up my white 9R today (my personal favorite color but would love the white rims from the '04) and am tickled pink. Much more radical than I had thought but I am in love, all for $7995.

Dyna, your grandchild would prefer the R. I know my kids love mine. Geez, you are 40 old man! You deserve it.

OK, Dyna, walk all over was probably optimistic. But you can still take a 9 put the Nallin Force pipe on it and have about the numbers of a 12 and be ahead on money and insurance. And have a low version like you want.
You forgot what it would cost to lower the 12 in your equation.

Glitch not sure if I want the race kit or not.Because of the stock pipe having the Interactive exhaust I don't know how well it will do seeing that no one has got it on there xb12 yet.Kinda waiting to see whats working and whats not I guess.

Personally I dont think the bikes are all that tall, but then Im not exactly a short lil fella.

But likeI was pointing out...take a couple of 04 models a 9 & a 12. The 9 is $9000 & dump $4500 into it & get 100rwhp. Take a 12 for $11,000 & lets stick $2500 into it to get the same amount spent & you will have an ass kicking bike. You can get the heads redone, pick up & pipe & a few other goodies for that price.

If you use an $8000 03 9 & stick $4500 into it, that still gives you $1500 to play with the 12.

Dollar for dollar the 12 is a better value if you are basing it strictly on hp.

But, how much will it cost to lower it? You keep forgetting that part.

I agree with your HP comparison.

Get a low seat off a 9 & that would probably be enough for most folks. Might get one off ebay cheap enuff:D

Or you could lower the whole bike about 2" just by lowering the air pressure in the tires to 5psi. Wont handle for shit. but it will definately be low.

Hey Dyna, that's an idea... After riding 5psi, if you had a flat you'd already be used to it... Wonder how the tires would wear though??? :)

Hey Daves,

Any chance of a before and after dyno on the 12's kit install. This goes out to all the dealers...

I think we're all REALLY interested to see HP and torque curves overlaid on the same graph. XB9 stock and with Buell race kit as well as XB12 stock and with race kit. I know lots of folks would rather go with aftermarket exhaust, but if you had just those four on one graph each (HP and TRQ).

I think we'd learn a lot. Seeing the difference in a stock 9 and 12... seeing the difference the race kit makes with the 9 versus the difference the race kit makes with the 12... seeing how a race kitted 9 does against a stock 12... seeing if putting a kit on the 12 changes the profile of the curves (mid range sag not "saved" by the valve in the stocker pipe).

You get the idea. THAT'S the stuff I want to see as someone who owns a 9 that's got a race kit.
