I am planning to put a SpecOps pipe on my 12R, but it is riding season so I don't want to be without a pipe for weeks. I have been looking for a good deal on a 12 pipe (or even a 9) to use while mine is gone but the extra cost is irking me sooooooo...

I had an idea -- anyone want to go in with me on the purchase of a extra pipe (or even donate/rent one for the upgrade cause). I figure we could just all chip in and then take turns using it while whoever (in my case Odie) has the primary pipe, then just send it on to the next person.

Anyways, what y'all think?

Oh yeah, speaking of mounting a SpecOps, will I need to remap my ECM and upgrade my filter (such as a K&N) right off the bat? If so, anyone in Washington/Oregon area have experience/gear to do the remap on an '07 12R?

Cheers!

No need to remap with just the Spec Ops. However if you also do a K&N you should remap. I would suggest just getting a stock pipe on ebay. They're going pretty cheap and that gives you the option of putting the stocker back on when you sell if the new owner prefers it that way.

Yeah, I might just do that, though it's just another part to clutter up my garage which is cluttered enough -- plus I honestly don't plan on ever selling the bike -- getting another one or three, sure...

Any reason a 9 pipe would cause problems on a 12 -- for the week or two that my stocker is gone? Would make getting a temp pipe easier -- might know somebody with a old stocker sitting in their garage.

Thanks for the info H&HB!

Sounds like something I might be interested in doing as long as the shipping is reasonable of the loaner pipe. I want to hear the OPS pipe before I'm definite on it though.

Just noticed your on the other side of the country, so it probably wouldn't work because of shipping cost.

I ran a 9 spec ops on my 12 with no problems, while my wife made up her mind if she wanted it on her CityX or not. Only difference is the valve.
