Apparently there was a change in the 848's MSRP sometime in the last month or so. MSRP for the 848 was originally listed as $12,995, but now it's listed as $13,495 on Ducati.com.

The 1098 has gone up as well, although that may have been for the 2008 model year. They were initially launched with an MSRP of $14,995, but now have an MSRP of $15,995.

the 848 was in the Popular Science I just picked up -- looks good to me. I might reconsider the the getting one of those rather than an a 7.

I just double checked list = $13,495 + government fees, taxes, dealer vehicle freight/preparation, dealer document preparation charges blah, blah. That's probably another +$1,500 or so out the door in 7% sales tax Jersey.

Dblast - Nice. Those damned Italians know how to make beautiful machines. I love my Buells but if I had the extra money I'd also have a Ducati, an Aprillia, and a MV Agusta. Almost any model will do.

I would have to admit that my Buell was more comfortable than my 1098 on a LONG trip . I could do 500 mile days on my old xb9s. But that's not to say that the Duc is grueling to ride. At first my opinion was that this thing sucks to ride, but that was only because I went from handlebars to clip ons. I know have clocked over 6k miles on my 1098. The Duc now is very comfortable to ride and I prefer the hunched over position to my style of riding. A little more aggressive but I like it. It's just a byproduct of owning a Duc .

Mark, I think we need to get you to a doctor, you have been staring at a pair of 1125Rs parked not more than 5 feet from your desk at work for 8 hours a day for over 5 months and you still bought an 848!!!!
You need to borrow the demo 1125 for the weekend and put a couple hundred miles on her, then decide which bike you want.

(The bikes have been sold and replaced with more many times over. 1125Rs don’t hang around Liberty HD/Buell for long)

Just messin with you Mark. I just test rode an 848 on Saturday. Definitely a fantastic sharp, stable, sorted, and way to fast for the street (see 1125R or most any sport bike) bike. The ergos were definitely race oriented and which would be great on track but leave something to be desired on the street. If the garage and wallet were empty and full enough respectively, id have an 848 and about a dozen other bikes, but not before getting an 1125R. Thanks Seth, that made my day. You should hear all the abuse I've been getting around the dealership since I told them about the new bike. I also value your driving impressions since I know you got awesome skills, the ergo's are not a big issue for me since I know going into it that the bike is one task focused. I can't wait!...

It may sound like abuse coming from your co workers, but there actually just trying to save you from yourself...


Don’t worry Elff, thankfully the internet is full of folks with lots of bark, but rarely any bite. If something someone said to me on the internet offended me, I unlike some others have the advances skills necessary to turn off my computer, return to the real world and go riding..

On that note, some will call me a racer/track snob, but ever since I started riding/racing on the track, I have very little interest in street riding on any bike other than a KTM 990 adventure, BMW R1200 GS Ulysses, Ducati Multisrata or perhaps a GL1800 or K12LT. in other words, if its not really versatile and really comfortable, its not for me (on the street). And I mean ride from Florida to Alaska comfortable.

The bikes are never the limiting factor when riding on public roads anyway, its always the road/law/morons in cars. A good rider will go just as fast (if not faster) up and down a twisty mountain road on a GS/ULY/KTM than most “sport riders" will on the average super sport bike. The difference is that the GS/ULY/KTM rider can then ride the 400 miles back home without putting is bike on a trailer and his butt on an ice pack..

Seth, I'm not blowing smoke or anything, just giving credit where it's due. Think about the environment I work in, every day I talk to ALOT of people who think they can ride. We've been on the track at the same time and I've seen you ride so I know there is credibility there, I don't have to take your opinion with a grain of salt.
