anyone clearcoated their translucent body work? any problems? any advice? and if so how did it come out? thanks guys

I have clear coated acrylics and translucent plastics before, if you do a good job painting it, it's going to look no different than just polishing it up. Though it might be more durable to scratches. You will have to rough it up to get good adhesion, I would recommend using an acrylic paint. The only reason I could see wanting to do this is if you have a lot of scratches and don't want to buff them out. What is your reason?

I don't know why more people do this.They will be twice as durable.

don't know about translucids but my black plastics are getting painted this year for the durability reason. if i could paint a balck translucid airbox at the same time with a clear coat that would be great!

i'm gonna be doin some detail painting on my clear plastic and i want to be able to clearcoat over the whole piece when i'm done... thanks for the answers

They can be done without issues. They need to be lightly scuffed and cleaned. Heres a example.
