Top one is way better, No Mar products are top notch, work as stated and they stand behind their products. Many here have the No-Mar bar and swear by it. | ||

Thanks. I noticed on further inspection that that wilco stuff is just a harbor freight upgrade. I KNOW there is a bar that is made by an "individual" that looked great. I checked his site about a year ago and he was backordered. I sure wish I remember who that was. | ||

YUP! Hammer knows what works... He showed me the light a year or so ago... No Mar Bar! Yup it works great! All the NEBO guys can attest to it also. I have done a couple dozen tires with that bar... | ||

To take off, Break bead, insert bar and insert small handle thing in the axle hole, stand wheel up on tire and rotate bar, do same for other bead (tire now off). Mounting, Lube tire bead, push tire on and line up balancing marks, second bead wont go on all the way, wood wedge or hold it by hand (firbolteric uses those plastic handi claps), rotate the bar around the bead and boom all done. Will have to video it some day as it's much easier to show someone than to explain it. I will admit though that some tires are so stiff I get a tad pissed off and just spoon them on. Then I go pull the bar out of the wall or ceiling | ||

What are you guys balancing with? I use a static balancer picked up on ebay for about $70 IIRC. yes, it can take a while, especially if you are anal about stuff. However, you are probably spending MUCH more time than someone else would on your balancing. Plus, a couple more beers isn't bad either. We have done probably 10 balancings with the static balancer with NO problems. | ||

Cool, so you just use the axle on jackstands, and the wheel bearing friction is low enough to get the heavy spot to move down? I've always wondered why people don't do that, I assumed the wheel bearings didn't move freely enough. (Message edited by spatten1 on May 01, 2008) | ||

That will work but, it may dampen out some of the imbalance, due to the stiction. I've used 5gal plastic pails with some big bearings and the axle. You just need to flush the grease out. It a matter of balance, clearance and, low friction. 90% of the time you could get by without balancing, or you could use those beads (where is Blake when you need an expert ;+}) Neil | ||
