I hereby decree that anyone who hereby mentions anything not pertaining to the care and maintenance of Buell plastics be forever cursed with leaky rockerbox gaskets.

Thanks for putting an end to this foolishness. That's mighty white of you!

Actually, the original post isn't as bothersome to me as the people who defend it or say it isn't a big deal. That is what I found the most offensive -- not break the skin offensive but definitely not invite you back for a meal again offensive.

And Ttags, my fiancee's mom and aunt used Jew the same way and then used your excuse that it doesn't mean anything and it is just something people say. I'll tell you what I told them -- it's still bigoted.

The first clue? Whenever you catch yourself saying, "not to be a jerk, but..." or "I don't want to sound like a c@#k, but..." or "It doesn't mean anything" -- it does mean something, it means your being a jerk or a c@#k or you are saying something that does mean something. A disclaimer is a sign of guilt. Guess it's a start...

Feel free to flame on, I'll be in my garage fixing a leaky rocker box.

Well me sideways with a fork!!!!!

I am of Portugese ethnicity and could not give a shit what the anybody says about it!

Who gives a good goddamn what your relatives did or did not happen to them.

The world goes on day by day totally oblivious to the little battles being fought, won and lost by the ants known as humans.

Life is way too short to get your knickers in a knot about something as trivial as what happened to who orchestrated by whom.

The reason humans are so bloody interesting is that we are all very different.

I like Meguiars by the way.

Make sure that the wife's undies don't have any lace trim, it will leave streaks... as will crusty skids.

It may not seem like a big deal to most of you, and I can understand why. It's all about life experience.

When I grew up in the 1980’s, just down the road from where Spacecapsule1 lives, my family was not allowed to join many of the swim and golf clubs in town, because we are Jews. The same people that kept Jews out of their swimming pools and golf courses let the “cheap Jew” comment fly all the time. I associate that language with the same type of bigots that excluded Jews from their social circles, and it hurts to hear it.

Probably why I ended up on motorcycles instead of golf courses.

So, should I whine and take offense to redneck jokes? Or if someone calls me a cracka' ass honky? Hmmm.... just doesn't bother me for some reason. Guess I'm just too laid back.

Aw, sh!t, my rockerbox....!!!

Spacecapsule1,

I grew up in Car lot, I mean Charlotte, outside of the city limits near Matthews. I was born there in 67 and left after school in 1990. It has changed quite a bit since then. Used to be shot holes in all the street signs we'd skip school to chew Red Man and go cat fishing. I think Charlotte takes itself much more seriously now.

Then your bascially being the same thing cause your calling him a bigot, a jerk and a c*&k for making a simple mistake..

You act like you have never screwed up, he said he was sorry...Everyone has thought or said the wrong thing at one point in time..Hell it happens to me everyday, with tattoos on both arms, shaved head, and the fact that I am from west Texas, I am labeled a skin head, KKK, Aryan Circle/ Brotherhood.. Getting stereotyped sometimes happens, You just need to learn to laugh it off, find the humor in it and go on..Your not going to live a very healthy life getting angry at words..

Plowboy, I think you are getting some of the different posters confused. Some of the things you attributed to me were not my posts.

There is a big difference in being discriminated against for clothes or tattoos that you choose and can change, versus the skin or religion that you were born into. One is a choice, the other is not.

When I used to have long hair and wear metal shirts all the time I pretty much expected to get treated like a pothead. When I got sick of being labled as a pothead I started wearing more typical clothes and got my haircut. That was an easy change. I don't care what I look like anyway, I just want to be judged for my actions. That is why I choose not to have any sort of image that will make people come to premature opinions. If you like tatts, that's cool, most of my friends have them. However, they are never surprised when it causes them a hassle or people pre-judge them.

I am considered a redneck by many because I hunt and fish, and ride motorcycles. That's OK by me if they choose to judge my hobbies, just don't pre-judge me based on my ancestry or the color of my skin, things I have no control over.

Some folks here are oblivious to how horrible a recurring rockerbox leak can be. Fools, I say!

S100 Detail and Wax is the best I've seen for polishing the plastic.

Your right, people do judge people for all sorts of bs reasons -- and I have gotten judged for more than my last name or "lack" of Christian upbringing. I've gotten flack for having ink, shaved head (ironic there), gun ownership and conceal and carry license, going to college, not working a 9-5, and definitely for riding a Buell (it's a motorcycle AND it's not squiddy enough!).

Here is the thing -- there isn't any equality in discrimination. A member of the majority (in this case "white" and Christian) will never feel the same sting from bigoted comments as someone in a minority group (that would be the rest of us). I'm not saying it's ok for people to make bigoted comments about anyone -- it's not -- but saying it's "no big deal" or whatever is a bit like your wife/girlfriend/bartender watching you get kicked in the junk and then telling you it isn't a big deal and doesn't hurt that much because she's been kicked there too...

...except she HASN'T, because she's not equipped, and if your not the minority group in question, either have you. Please accept that when we say "ouch" we aren't just playing to the crowd. I know it's been more than 50 years since the most recent try at exterminating us, but strangely we still aren't quuuiiite over it.

Damn, I'm gonna run out of shop towels at this rate -- good think Costco is hav'n a sale!
