Hi all, Just noticed yesterday and according to a long time Buell enthusiast, the rocker cover gasket (front cylinder) is leaking - Not quite dripping but a little more than moist. And then I noticed that the top of the trans was also 'moist'. Several folks say that this is 'normal - it's a harley'. First, is this true. Second, do I need to get this fixed NOW, in other words - load it on a trailer get it directly to my harley dealer. Or can I ride it and keep checking the oil level (read some prior posts on correct levels) until I can get an appointment time - say when the service dept can turn my bike around in 2 days. I hate to be without my bike! I also heard about a new gasket/kit replacement that will stop this 'normal' leak. Does this upgrade kit work? Any opinions are very appreciated! Alisha | ||

It's not normal for any bike. First question I'm going to ask, do you have a Service Manual? Second question, how mechanically inclined are you? | ||

Very normal on tubers, but unusual on the XBs. They did something to fix it on the XBs, and it worked. Keep a good eye on it. It should be safe to ride as long as it does not start leaking more heavily. | ||

FYI, they did upgrade the gaskets on the tubers due to the common leakage. May have been the same on sportsters, I don't follow HD. I haven't personally heard of a need to upgrade the XB gaskets, but that don't mean it ain't true. |
