I read a while ago that someone had a bent swingarm pivot bolt that caused his belt to track crooked.

My belts were cracking and/or wearing to the cord on the left side, but still tracking OK.

I've been running a chain for a while now, giving up on the belts.

I checked my swingarm bolt and rear axle and both rolled straight and appeared to have no arc to them.

When changing tires recently I noticed that my rear axle went tight/loose/tight/loose as I turned it. It still looks perfectly straight when rolled.

I went ahead and spent the $55 on a new axle, and what do you know, it went in with steady pressure.

Spent a couple hours going back from chain to belt, and things may be OK now. The belt does seem looser, but my belt is cracked a bit on the left side, so I don't know for sure if it just stretched or not. I'm going to run this belt for a while and see how it goes.

If anyone is having belt wear issues, and has crashed in the past, I'd check if the rear axle runs in with steady pressure or not.

I do already miss the extra torque from the big rear sprocket though....

I have seen axles, front and rear, that were crushed by excess pinch bolt torque. The drive-hex end is pretty thin, and gets squished out-of-round.

This makes them get tight-loose-tight going in or out, and can't be healthy for clamp load or wheel alignment.
