We have taken a risk on starting with 41 teeth. The XB9 pulley has 34 teeth and the XB112 pulley has 38 teeeth. The chain links are grouped by two. The angle is starting to get closer to the diameter of he clutch pully so three teeth may sneak in with two extra links. 41 teeth gives an extra 20 kph before being rev limited. Paulo came third in a high performance track day on his Firebolt yesterday. He was beaten by works bikes - a significantly modified CBR1000 and a Suzuki GSX1000K8. He slaughtered the rest of the field including a Suzuki K10, and now has lots of invitations from pits for the next round. This cog was meant for my bike, but Paulo wants it for next weekend. He needs a bit more at the end of the straight. He is sitting on the rev limiter for most of the straight. The risks are that the angle will prevent correct operation of the chain tensioner, and that I should have gone for either 40 or 42 teeth for a correct chain fit. I'll know next week. Here is a pic. The manufactured cog is on the left, and the stock Buell XB12 cog is on the right. So are you saying u can use the stock 12 primary chain with this on a 12? | ||

It will need to be either 2 or 4 links longer. I'm hoping 2. If we have to go 4 then the tensioner may not take up the slack. We are getting a chain made up during the week. If we try it and we can't take up the slack, I will have an idea of whether 40 or 42 are viable. | ||

It fits and runs. The chain needed an extra two teeth. Waiting for the next track day to test it. |
