i'm riding home from work today good law abiding citizen i am when i see in the mirror the cop who just passed me hit the blues and turn around(here we go!). i knew i wasn't speeding so i couldn't wait for this one......i got the typical "do you know why i pulled you over?"( a laundry list of things i'd done wrong throughout my life flashed through my head...but i admitted nothing)" you have a headlight out" i almost pissed my pants....first of all it's 2:30 and bright as hell are you kidding me, apparently it was a slow day for this guy if i was the big fish he'd been waiting for. when i explained to him that i have a high and low beam and then showed him how they worked he was nice enough to inform me that it's a terrible design! i've had plenty of people tell me i got a light out but W.T.F.! just figured i'd share.

oh yeah my day got funnier about 15 minutes later...look for my next post "CUTE BIKE"

Had a cop pull me over about 6 months ago while I was doing 60 in a 35 mph zone (my neighborhood has some irresistable twisties).

Got out of his car -- got my license -- verified that I was insured -- then walked over to the bike and asked, "2003?"

Yes, I said.

"I'm not gonna give you a ticket. I just wanted to see your bike."

Turns out he rode a V-Rod. Followed me to my house -- checked out my bikes -- talked bikes for an hour -- and left.

Yeah, I LOOOOOOVE my neighborhood....

I got pulled over once for "no muffler"
The cop was positive that it was a custom design and it was illegal.

Nice...I had an experience a little while back. It was late, about 11:30pm. and I was headed home on a bypass...I passed a light going maybe 53 in a 45..next thing a car pulls up behind me riding my ass and not trying to pass...so I speed up to about 60 and he stays on my ass for about 1/2 a mile. By this time Im thinking this guy must be drunk or trying to run me off the road to something. I think, screw this, my off ramp is coming up so I get on it and hit this 30 mph off ramp at about 90mph (I know this ramp like I made it myself) I peak in my mirror as Im now a good 1/4 mile ahead of him and the lights go on. SHIT! I pull off the road and wait, he gets on a megaphone and yells to me to throw my keys on the road next to me with hand on gun..etc.
Finally he walks up and says you were going 90 MPH!! I said,"Now thats a lie" "What?", "I havent been on the road for an hour" He didnt think it was so funny, But he did let me go after a short debate about WHY I was speeding up.

Pulled over twice by two different officers on the same night.

"Just wanted to see one in person" from the first officer, the second heard it on the radio and tracked me down to take a look also.

One now owns a 9R the other a Uly.

Good stuff. : )

I know some may get crazy pissed over a cop pulling you over to see your bike. And while it would annoy me, I figure what the heck. I like to talk bikes and if someone wants to check it out that's cool.

I love those instances. Makes for a good story when your late to work because of it (be sure to always get the officers name so if your place of employment doesn't believe you, it can still be confirmed)

running off road back in the forest service roads, I came out and there is a county mounty in a secluded wooded curve looking for speeders coming down the road..... I saw the lights, came up behind him in my lane of travel, covered in mud...got off the bike to clean off my plate and my turn signals. He saw me, waited until I entered the county road, then lit me up... Drivers License, registration.. "Do you know that the park is closed to ORV's?" yes, this is a fully licensed ROAD bike, not subject to the ORV permits... I got a pass. He showed up two days later to demo the ULY ;) He is waiting on our XT to show up.

Brian, I bet your sales manager didn't believe that one.

Sell a bike to a cop off road. That is classic

Hey, cops are people too. Our local motor officers around here are great. They'll give you a ticket, sure, but they love bikes and bikers and it's nothing personal. Best ticket I ever got. Wrangled a cup of coffee out of it, too.

As per the "you got a head light out" comments. I grew tired of that one after getting pulled over for my third time. I decided to put a notch my High/Low switch. I now have an in-between position on the switch, so that both of my head lights are on at the same time.

I only have been pulled over for speeding once on my XB. I was asked why I was going so fast, I asked if he wanted the truth, he said yes and I told him I did not see him. It got me out of the ticket.

Something to think about.

Recently I was out running an errand late one night. I was rolling through town (downtown actually), and cop pulled up behind me.

I watched him follow me for some time, block after block, turn after turn.

I actually started to sweat a little bit, I wasn't doing anything wrong, but still...

Well I finally get to the grocery store, park out front. Turns out he pulled up a few spaces away. I was sure he wanted to talk to me.

So instead of waiting, I walked up to the cop car, and introduced myself. Turns out he was a cool guy, and I ended up tossing in his lunch goodies into my shopping cart.

I figure if $7 worth of food helps alleviates tension between officers, and motorcyclists then it is totally worth it.

I get to work at about 5:30 AM each morning. I take toll roads most of the way as it's easier and there really is no traffic to speak of.

Of course, I stretch the speed limit somewhat, but nothing outrageous.

One morning as I pass through the last toll plaza (I have an E-Pass transponder, so I don't have to stop to pay the tolls) I notice a county Sheriff behind me. He continues to follow me all the way to the bottom of the bay door ramp at the office.

He motions me to step over to the car and proceeds to tell me with his index finger and thumb about an inch apart, "Could you slow down just a little bit?".

I replied, "Yes sir", and off he went.

I think that slowed me down on the way to work for a good two days.
