I was doing a few things to my Ss tonight... adjust the timing, reset the TPS, reset the AFV (since I was there).

To get readings on the timing, the bike key had to be on, and the Key Icon had to be clicked.

To get readings on the throttle position, the same: key on, Key Icon on.

However, according to the ECMSpy manual, I should click on Reset TPS after I get the throttle position to zero. HOWEVER, I can't. It's grayed out, and I can't click on it. The only thing that makes it clickable is to de-click the Key Icon. Then the Reset TPS button will be active and usable. If I click it, the message at the bottom tells me the TS has been reset. But I'm not so sure, since this de-clicking stuff isn't in the manual, and everything else requires the Key Icon to be active.

My REST AFV button behaves just like the TPS... grey during active Key Icon, black during inactive.

So, am I doing this right, or is something wonky with my software? I'm using the correct bike parameters from startup: 2006 XB 12. Any input is appreciated!

You are unable to make changes to the actual parameters within the ECM while the program is running real time (Key Icon). You need to stop real time display to write the zero adjustment as you have found and then start real time again to adjust the degrees of throttle plate for idle. Zeroing the thottle using the click button does nothing but changing the hex value in the ECM to zero for the given position and electrical output of the thottle position sensor. This is why you need to physically make sure the thottle plate is completely shut when you zero. It is purely a sensor voltage calibration to the physical position of your throttle plate to the value in the ECM.

Ah, that explains it then. Thanks! did indeed have the throttle closed all the way when I hit the button, so looks like I did everything correctly.

It's running, anyway. Didn't get a chance to take it out for a test run yet.
