I'm a little new to the forum. I just bought a new XB9Sx, and noticed an empty socket in the headlamp assembly. It's right between the two lenses, and there are holes so you can see the socket without taking it apart. Anyone know what it is? I've checked the owners and service manuals, even called a buell service dept. and still have no idea.

UK/Euro models get a Twinkle lamp in that socket.

Never knew there was an LED 194... Is it considerably brighter than the incandescent 194? I feel like I waste $1.95 or whatever on the regular 194, cuz you can hardly see it unless it's past dusk...

Take that power wire going to empty socket, and swap it with the power wire going to the low beam.
One lamp for low beams as usual, and both lamps for high beams.
That's what I did.

will do. i put it in this morning, but you can't really tell yet. I got the regular bulb just to see the effect. didn't want to spend the money if it wasn't something I liked. The only LED i could find was the multi-color, and I really want just blue. anyone know where i can find one of those?

The purpose of the center bulb was to be a parking lamp. The only time you can really see it is when you turn the key to the next position past lock, then the parking lamp comes on without the headlamps. I just put an amber bulb in mine.

It also puts on the tail light in the Park position.
It'll also drain the battery if left in Park too long.

Those sockets are great for powering heated handgrips etc and the likes as they only get power once the bike is on. The other good thing is there are two of them!!!!! Our bikes in Australia have them hooked up with bulbs as well but chances are anyone looking for 12V at the front of the bike will have cut them at the rubber bung to keep the headlights sealed.

After reading this tonight I went out and did it. I just skinned the two wires back and twirled them together then retapped them. Took about 5 minutes. That way if I don't like it for some reason I don't actually have any cut wires, just untwirl them. Im going on a roadtrip over the weekend. It will be nice having the extra light.
