A couple weeks ago, after I finished painting my drummer and giving my 12Ss a pre spring once over, I figured it was time for new front pads. I had about 9700 miles on the original pads and they were 2/3rds worn.
I priced OEM pads, and they came in at about 90 bucks. I was never all that happy with the amount of brake dust they left, although for my style of riding, they worked just fine. I did a little research on the Lyndal Golds, and I thought that they would be the pad of choice, but I was quoted a shipping price of $33 from Al (American Sport Bike). I am not a cheap prick, but I started to look around and I was able to purchase a set of EBC Double H for $62, which is considered to be a fairly good deal in my neck of the woods.
I installed them (piece of cake-15 minutes start to finish) on Friday and after I set them in (10 'hard' stops at 20, 40 and 50 mph) , the EBC's worked very well. Once I thought the pads were seated sufficiently, I took the bike to 90 mph and gradually applied the brake, to the point where I was hauling her in fairly hard. I did this 3 times. I never experienced any fade, or chatter. IMO, the EBCs are proving to be a worthy replacement for us guys, who live north of the 49th.
I thought I would share......

Dan

Waddia you talking about!

As the weather warms Chris, we'll have to circle the boys up and go for a ride. Maybe this coming weekend....if it doesn't snow?!?

Started using the EBC pads myself when it became apparent that my local Buell dealers didn't actually stock brake pads, and had to special order them for me.

I've got EBC's on the front and back of mine, mostly because I can typically find them in stock at various bike shops in town. Just bought a front set from an online retailer, $49 to my door. Keep reading good things about the Lyndalls, might give them a shot next.

I know that when I ordered my Lyndall's from Al and chose ground shipping, it didn't cost $33???!!! More like $4.50 from Cali to Ohio.

$33 was international shipping to the Great White North. I never specified which method (air or ground, regular USPS or UPS) when I asked American Sport Bike, so I suspect Al defaulted to the method he normally uses when shipping to Canada.

I prefer the EBC's and the stock pads. I like the stock pads better but they are pretty spendy so I use the EBC's. I've used the Lyndalls as well. Both their Golds and their HH pads.

Mark me down for Lyndal gold's in the front, as the ebc HH sintered that I installed were way to rough in the stopping. They do work very well on my hidden brembo caliper in the back, but I am content with the feel of the gold's up front.

What pads fit the buell? Or the like pad number from another bike? I'm due for some new pads.
