I just got a K&N for my SS, and i was wondering, as i ride in the rain and have the open airbox, will the oil come off the filter and cause damage to the bike? My stock filter gets wet but its never caused an issue, i am just afraid the oil will come off and gunk up the throttle body. Also, since the filter will be getting wet, would it need to be re oiled constantly?

Hey Froggy,

I had an open airbox on my 12R with the K&N, I think I put about 1500 to 2000 miles on the bike like that in numerous rain storms and it never seemed to be an issue. You may have to oil the filter more often. I wouldnt think that the oil would cause any problem to the throttle body but then again I cant say for sure.
