what do you all think of k/n oil filters are they worth the extra cost?

I get them once a year, six at a time from K&N. Part number KN-177. The nut welded on really helps out come removal time.

They're great if you want to safety wire them or don't have a filter wrench. Otherwise I use Wix or factory.

I use them on the racebike because of the safety wire requirement. Simplifies my life.

I change my oil too often (every race weekend) to comment on just how good (or bad) they are.

Love them. Been using them for over 40,000 miles, except for one time only, when none were available. So, I've used roughly 18 of them, and no issues. Ease of use with peace of mind.

Extra cost? What are we talking about here, an extra $5.00? What's your engine worth?

Good argument. That's kind of where I go when talking about trying to "save" a couple bucks a quart for oil and other critical stuff.
