Just graduated up to my XB12 from my Blast! Yesterday I got brave enough and took out the XB on the real rodes and even the freeway! Only ever ridden it up and down my street. Oh boy, it was great! I don't think I'll ever ride the Blast again, well I am going to take it to track days as recommended. During my ride the fuel light came on and a 'new' trip meter started with an 'F' on the display. Stopped and put gas and it only took 2.66 gallons. My questions are, what is the capacity of 2005 XB12scg (listed on another website it states 3.7 gal) and does a special trip meter start when the low fuel light comes on? I tried to reset this at my fuel stop and couldn't. Any help? Thanks in advance, Alisha | ||

It automatically resets. Most of the XB owners, including me have their gas light flick on with about a gallon left. Supposedly you are allowed an additional 30 miles once the light comes on. | ||

From the owners manual (available for download from the "owners" section of buell.com): The reserve fuel odometer (F-trip) is activated automatically when fuel level drops below about 0.83 gallons/3.1 liters (XB12Ss/XB12STT) or 0.75 gallons/2.8 liters (all other models) and counts mileage traveled after low fuel indicator illumination. The F-trip resets, after a 3-minute delay, when enough fuel is added to bring fuel level above about 0.83 gallons/3.1 liters (XB12Ss/XB12STT) or 0.75 gallons/2.8 liters (all other models). | ||

Thank you guys for the info! I'm just a little ADHD to read manuals - I JUST WANNA RIDE!!!! I promise, I will overcome this. OMG! I simply love this bike, I rode to work today! I would ride EVERYDAY if not for the blasted rain. It is so much fun/relief after a 13 hour stressful shift to have that solace of the ride home. And it's very cool to have 20 somethings ask "is that your bike?? IT IS! Hey, do some wheelies on the way out" and then be able to blame the hospital (your employer) for the reason why you can't! I can't even describe the feeling....... but I guess all of you know what I'm talkin' 'bout. *sigh* (gushing feelings of love) Alisha | ||

I totally know what you mean!!! I've even started riding mine in the rain.... This is the first day of sun in the last 8 days and I have ridden to work 7 out of the last 8!!! So...what kinda MPG you getting on the 05? | ||

Heh, rain riding is an art we here in Washington practice on a semi-regular basis -- spend some time up here and you get used to a bit 'o drizzle now and again, no worries. My 12R handles the wet like a champ -- just make sure you have the proper gear, and heated grips are a bonus. On the other hand we had a nice 85F day on Sat, not a cloud in sight and that is the almost perfect riding weather in my opinion (I like it even cooler, say 65-70F, more power and just right for no sweat-soaked gear at the end of the ride). Mileage? I seem to be getting 50mi/gal. But I'm sure I'm not riding it very efficiently. Still a bit green. I am improving, didn't drive my truck at all in a week! I even went to the grocery store on my bike. It's a good thing I don't eat alot! |
