"Easy" is a relative term. I'm in the middle of cutting mine up, and it's a PITA I think. I just used a hacksaw to get the bulk off, which was a pain in itself...but now grinding the rest off is even harder! Using a Dremel to do it, but it's very slow going... I figure 2-4 hours should do it though, in total.

I agree "easy" is relative....it takes a lot more work then you would think. I use a hacksaw, a pnuematic cutter and a grinder and it still didn't come out perfect. Although i was also not paying as much attention as i should have

I think Spec Ops and American Sport Bike are the only two places in the USA that do it that I know of. I have yet to see any others.

We sell the license plate bracket for the person who cuts the cheese grater off. It's $31.95 with stainless steel installation hardware and instructions.

Yeah its easy and I did mine in a 1 1/2 hours and primed. I did the same with a hack saw. Then I used a angle grinder to shape it how I liked. First drew a line for the shape. then sanded it. Used alittle permatex metal filler for some poor fill in the casting. sanded that smooth and primed it. Yeah easy.....I guess it was for me anyhow. Angle grinder sped up the process some.

To add to the already great suggestions in this thread, I found a rasp and a small dremel metal cutter bit to work awesome. The dremel is great for shaping, and the rasp removes a decent amount of material while insuring you have a nice flat even surface. Very happy with the way mine turned out. Not sure how long it took me though...
