I just bought the LSL axle sliders. After installing them on my bike, I am not sure if I trust them. Does anyone have any experience with the LSL axle sliders? They seem like they will rip off if I go down.

Not familiar with LSL. I use Dark Horse Moto stainless units.

Post a link or pics.

Semirgdi if the LSL sliders don't have a rod that connects the two i wouldn't trust them either. stick 'em on ebay, and go with dark horse moto. they've been "tested" by several on this board and they do what they're supposed to. plus they look great.

The LSL sliders I have seen are of a "similar" design to the Dark Horse Moto sliders. They have a connecting rod, aluminum base, delrin slider buttons, etc.

What I did notice is that they do not have much of a collar that fits inside the axle like the Dark Horse Moto sliders.

Could they work? Sure. I'm sure that they will provide protection in a crash. I just feel that the Dark Horse Moto products provide much better, stronger protection and are much less likely to fail.

Plus, you get to work with a really great company in Dark Horse Moto.

What's cool, is that my local Buell dealer sells LSL sliders in their store.

Yea my last set of sliders had a connecting rod and they worked perfectly. The LSL sliders I just bought do not, they have rubber boots that expand and hold them in place. I actually bought these sliders from my local dealer.

"no way i'd rely on that"

I agree - they need the rod that links the two together.

Thanks for the props guys. We have reports from a number of customers who have crashed with our sliders and they performed as designed. One CCS racer low sided at 80 MPH and had no damage to the swing arm at all. The slider was still functional.

Whether you use ours or someone else's, use them. Sliders and the frame pucks from Buell are cheap insurance. You might be surprised at how many customers we get AFTER they drop their bike. The email usually starts something like, "I've been looking at your sliders but never got around to buying a set. Then, yesterday, the unthinkable happened. I dropped my bike..."

Keith's a great guy and his sliders are top-notch.

I've got a powder coated, low-profile set fore and aft that thankfully have never been tested (and look damned nice, too). Only time the bike was down was before I bought them, but to be fair, Dark Horse Moto didn't exist at the time. ; )

The collar that fits into the axle is key (ala dark horse). Without it your transferring the forces to the rod that holds them in place. The collar maintains the integrity of the slider and the axle and allows it to act as a solid unit. Also, a buggered up rod might make them difficult to remove in the even of a crash.

I think I am making sense. It's difficult to tell sometimes.

I've been running the LSL axle slider on my xb9r race bike for 2 years now, and been down more than a few times, besides replacing the plastic insert they have work great, just my racing experience with them

I just installed the Dark Horse Moto Eco sliders front, back, and bar-end -- look nice and it's nice piece of mind (I have watched a bike slide down the road without me before and looked at the damage I needed to repair afterward with OUT sliders installed and that was not cool).

I have the LSL sliders on my bike and was not very happy when I got them in to find they used an expandable sleeve to hold them in place. they havent fallen off, but peace of mind for the securing center rod would be great!

and looking at darkhorse, you can get front and rear "eco" sliders for $70!!!
I mean $70!!! what a freakin steal!!
When I bought mine, they didnt have the "eco". if so that is what I would have bought in a heartbeat!!!!!!
matter a fact........maybe my LSL would look good on ebay too :-)

The LSL sliders I saw didn't have the expanding collar but did have the threaded center shaft like Dark Horse Moto. They just didn't have the longer collar making the potential for slider shear much higher.
