(REPOST) I'm considering replacing my 06-X with an 08-STT. Have loved the X but am looking for a little more agility and don't need all of the off-road capability that the X can offer. I'm also not touring like I used to with a 4 month old son at home now. Can't beat the price either $1200 less than the X and $2700 less than the XT. Has anyone had any luck with using the number plates as soft bag supports? I'd also love to see some photos of a "dressed up" STT. Also if anyone has any cool personalized paint schemes I'd love to get some ideas for the future. Hopefully there are a few owners on this board that are willing to post pics. I don't see a lot of posts relating to this bike. Thanks for your earlier response Akbuell. |

I just bought mine in January and it already had the two up kit on it. I've just recently added the laminar lip, and it does get the air off the chest like it's suppose too. I will probably keep the bike pretty much stock, I have a cruiser to ride if I want to haul luggage. I've tried to post pics, but haven't found a good program yet that doesn't make them postage stamp size. I do like the TT, can't see me ever taking it off road, but it's nice to know that I can if the need arises. |

I just picked up a 2007 XB12STT for $6,500.00 from a lady that won it in a raffle. It is my first Buell and although I didn't really care for the look of the STT over the standard XB12s or XB12ss I found that alot of Buell dealers are selling them for about the same as the 2007 XB9s. I'm going to order a 2008 Firbolt Artic White front fender to replace the duck bill and remove the number plates. I'm hoping the Lightning Long Touring seat will fit it otherwise I'm going to order the TwoUp seat or perhaps a Corbin. |

I took a chance an ordered the corbin for a SS to put on my 08 TT. In 2-3 weeks I should have it. Al from american sportbike says it'll fit, but corbin says no it won't. So...... I'm crossing my fingers here. This is a huge expense that I hope doesn't go to waste. I'll post back in a few weeks once I have the seat and will let you know if it actually does fit or not. Al @ American Sport Bike wont steer you wrong The SS and STT seats are interchangeable, so the SS touring seat will work. I have an SS, and I am converting it to the STT. |

Hey folks, I'm looking at an 07 STT, new, great price, but I want to be able to give the boss-lady a ride now and then. Is it hard to make it passenger-able or should I just look for a Ss? |

For a couple hundred bucks you can get the two up kit from your dealer. Different seat, passenger footpegs and I think the lightning front fender. This is what was on my TT from the dealer when I bought it and it really did make it the bike I wanted. I think the seat is comfortable enough for 60 miles at a time, get off and walk around the bike do another 60. I really do like the Buell, and my other bike (cruiser) is kind of boring now when I ride it. I will probably keep it (the cruiser) for those days when the wife joins me or it's a longer trip where I need to take more luggage. |

http://www.buell.com/en_us/gear/accessories/Produc t.asp?Menu_ID=2&ProductLineID=3&CategoryID=3&Produ ctID=4131 Thats the 2 up conversion kit. Its basically the lightning long seat and some foot pegs. |

And I believe you can get by w/just the footpeg brackets and foot pegs. The replacement seat has the passenger grab strap (probably a federal law thing), and may not be necessary. Don't know how comfortable the back of the stock seat might be for a passenger, tho ..... |

I thought there might be some frame rail changes or support changes that needed to be made. If it's just the seat pegs, I could have my Ss and ride the STT, too |

I'm in the middle of turning my STT into a Super Sport Tourer. I'm waiting on the saddle bags until next month. I plan to use Givi Hard bags as they are about $50.00 LESS than the Buell soft bags. I'll have to fab up a mounting bracket but it shouldn'd be a problem to do...after all I work in a Fab Shop! I did buy a little wind shield from Cee-Bailey but haven't mounted it yet as a friend is painting the lower part to look like the fly screen and he got called up and the silly things's locked in his shop! |

Froggy: I like that! If it's pretty easy to do, I could make the changes myself. I'm an idiot with a tool (I'm probably the biggest tool in the damn box) but it sounds simple enough. I really like the STT but definitely need two up. Birdy: Post some pics when you can |

The TT does seem to be the Rodney Dangerfield of the Buell line. As XB's go, it's the only one I like. I've been considering a used 07 I saw last week. Have to go back and take another look tomorrow. Not sure if the savings offset the 08 changes. |

Here is my 2007 XB12STT, just 121 miles on it and already a different looking bike...
Basically removed the front fender and number plates ( I've ordered a new fender ) and installed a Lightning Long Touring Seat. The paint is flat black with real orange racing stripes ( home depot ). The number plates do work well to supports soft bags, I've got some Nelson Rigg bags that I installed on the bike, not exactly the best match for the bike but they hold 70-80 liters and are much less than the popular Cortec Tri-bag system. |

Number plates work good to support bags, but they will get rub marks.....boohoo. If you want shiny ones put some tape under their or spend $40 on a pair of spares. FIERROSC, hows that seat compare to stock? Is it lower, does it change your position? How tall are you ? |

How you like it so far Fierrosc? I can just flat foot it on the used one I'm thinking about. Looks like a good paint job. |

I'm a hard ass, got corbins on my other two bikes and have had them on almost all of my bikes, so I like the firmness of the Lightning Long touring seat, it's alot firmer than the stock STT seat which seems to be way to soft. I'm 5'11" @ 245lbs with a 32 inch inseam and cannot flat foot it with either seat. I did not notice any difference in height with the touring seat over the stock STT seat but probably my weight compresses the stock seat alot more than most. Looks better in clear I think. I planned to paint the lower part to look like the fly screen (that's why is at a friends place while he's off to war) http://www.ceebaileys.com/buell/lightningxb9_xb12. html |
