Today i went for a ride and once the bike once warmed up i rubbed my glove against the header. What is the best product to remove the burned in glove off the header? Thanks |

Time, it will eventually ash off. Give it about 3-4 good rides you will see. |

I had the same thing happen to me last March while trying to warm my hands.... The stain burnt off after a couple of rides. My new Lee Parks DeerSports still looked ok as well. |

After it burns off, there may still remain a stain. Scotch bright pad will remove easily. Might leave a clean spot though. No worries just clean the entire header. |

Or polish the whole thing. Using wet/dry sand paper or Emery cloth, start with 600 grit, then go to 1500, and finally 2500 for a near-mirror finish. Takes about half an hour to get like this, do it right on the bike, piece of cake. Repeat every 6 months or so. |

Pwnzr you have a 2004. Sean appears to have the matte finished 2006 headers. Do you know if the later headers will polish up like the earlier ones? Actually, they seem to have less tool marks, and might polish up just dandy. Anyone know for sure? |

It just depends on how deep the machine marks are. With a little elbow grease they will all polish to a deep shine. Polished stainless steel looks better than any chrome job can. |

I did something similar. I went to hang my Buell sling bag on my handle bar to open the garage after shutting her down and came back to a melted mess on the header. Stupid me, I will only do that once. Anyways I just started the bike back up, got the header real hot and wiped off the mess with a wad of thick paper towels folded and folded so I didn't burn myself. It came right off, no stains. I don't have a polished header nor have I ever done more than clean my header. Take note the header will burn the paper towels as they obviously get real hot. Have a second wad ready so after you get the initial glob off your not wiping that all over. I hope this helps. |
