Has anyone here installed on? I ran into a snag with mine, i can't seem to figure out what im doing wrong. The part im stuck at is installing the RPM sensor. I am using the crimpy things (yea i know don't use them, its temporary), i tried tapping into all 3 of the wires behind the coil, but i don't get a RPM reading. Which wire is the hot one? I believe i just got this thing set wrong, but I can't even begin to play with it till i know for sure i got this wire on right.

Well, on a generic coil set up, I believe the three wires are, 12v + key on, 12V -, and the last one is a switched source from the computer usually negative. Take a test light and connect it to the positive terminal and with the bike running or cranking see which wire makes the light pulse.

There is probably a better answer that involves a wiring schematic and color codes and such, but sometimes the generic way is quick dirty and effective.

Pick up a cheap meter and test them. You can get a cheapy at pepboys. That way you know exactly what is hot.

My original veypor used a single black wire that wrapped around the spark plug wire 3 or 4 times to pick up the tach signal.

Thanks guys, I will steal my dads light to figure it out. Perhaps its time to invest in that service manual ive been procrastinating over.

Yea Tread, the VR2 lets you connect the white wire to the coil, or you can use the yellow wire and tap into the line for a digital tachometer behind the dash, but i don't know if that will work for the XB's.
