i want to make axle sliders for my xb9r, but don't know how the are attached to the bike, is it a rod from one to the other or a system that bolt somehow on the axle.

Some have pieces that expand out when you tighten tight bolt in center..

Got mine from Al at American Sport Bike. Good folks, great service, and a local (sort of, for me) contact. They are the Dark Horse Moto ones. A machined button, with a replaceable Delrin? cap, connected by a rod through the axle. Good kit.

Made my own for about $10( alum. and stainless threaded rod). Of course you need access to a lathe...
