Hi everyone, Just wondering if anyone knows off hand what the price of the Ulysses wheels are. Also wondering if they'd fit on a XB12S. I'm thinking there wouldn't be an issue but not sure. Thanks |

They are slightly heavier (more durable for off-roading), but they would fit fine. Not sure on cost, sorry. |

Just out of curiosity, why are you wanting the Uly wheels? |

Well Towjam, I always thought the color of the wheels would be a nice change to the bike and would match up with the magnesium color of the engine case on the 12. Was actually thinking of getting my wheels power coated that color. Then when the Ulysses came out I was happy to see that Buell had been thinking the same thing. Just want my 12S to be more unique I guess. |

Understood. But, you still may want to consider that powder coating option. Keep in mind that the Uly wheels weigh something like 1 - 1.5 lbs each more than the S wheels. That might not sound like much but given the sensitive handling nature (or as we Buellers call it, "flickability") of the S, it may have a significant impact on handling. In fact, that point was brought out in this review of the XT (http://www.motorcycle.com/manufacturer/buell/2008- buell-ulysses-xb12xt-review-77130.html) Someone at the lower end of the skill meter like myself may not notice the difference but if you've been riding your S for any length of time, you might want to try work out some type of "try and buy" deal. (I could've sworn the Uly wheels were listed up on buell.com at some point but I don't see them up there now - just the standard XB wheels. Go figure.) just my .02 (and worth almost every penny!) Very well put! Never really gave it much thought on how the extra weight could effect handling. As I do tend to ride it like I stole it, I really don't want to sacrifice any flickability. I'm now wondering how much weight powder coating adds to the wheels. |
