i will be purchasing an xb9s this week and was wondering the best way to tie this down.

I will be renting the uhaul motorcycle trailer and some ratcheting tie down straps that they have. It has a chock on the trailer and 4 eye bolts for tie points

What 4 points of the bike should i tie down to as i figure four points would be best?

Bars and passenger pegs.

+1

good straps around the bars, compress the forks. Then do the same around the passenger pegs.

If you don't have bar-end mirrors, Canyon dancers work well. And are very easy to use.

I have bar end mirrors, so I loop a tie-down around each front fork tube between the cross bars of the tripple tree to get the front secure. Then I just loop around the rear wheel to keep it from moving side to side. Put the bike in gear to keep it from moving front/back. I also secure the front tire with a smaller strap.
Note: If you run a strap around your wheels, put something soft between the strap and wheel to keep it from rubbing the coating off... I didn't the first time, and have a bare spot on the rear wheel.

I tie down using the triple tree, not the bars. I pass the straps through each side of the trees just below the headlights. The key is not to overtighten...you may blow seals. I compressed my front wheel about 1/2"-3/4". BUY SOFT STRAPS!!!!

I looped two traps as far back on the swing arm as I could go and ratched down. Just be careful of the rear brake caliper.

The front is key to the whole thing. Get the front wheel lined up straight and the bike standing at a 90° angle. No lean. I strap both sides of the swing arm for safety and support because I carry the bike in the back of an open pick-up.

I tie down using the triple tree, not the bars.'

Me too. Just above the lower triple. I have crossroads bars, an they flex way too much using them to tie down the bike.
