I want to swap my primary cover from my 03 9r to my 04 12r. My question is what are the parts besides the primary cover that i am going to need to swap? and how many gaskets am i going to need? thanks for the help. |

You will probably need a new primary gasket and providing the two are compatible that is all you should need. I would contact a dealer to make sure the two covers are compatible before trying to swap though. I didn't think there would be a difference but when I ordered one once I got the wrong model year and it didn't fit. Hope this helps. -Sam |

You will also need a clutch adjuster cover gasket, and a shift shaft seal. I always remove the old seal while the cover is off, clean, install cover, wrap splines on shift shaft with electric tape to avoid hot 'n nasty seal cutting action (start on the cover side, and wrap towards the outer end of the shift shaft end and then the edges of the tape overlap in a friendly way), then slide the seal on, remove tape, and drive the seal home with 9/16 deepwell socket. (I think that's the right size, it's been a awhile. I use Craftsman, but most should work) |
