First ride of the year. New buzzing noise. The XB9S callout plate on the timing cover (right side)is loose in the rivets. Anyone have this? Fixed it?

Yes, once you remove the stock plate, I think you will find a thicker plate held on by two screws on the horizontal. Might as well pick yourself a new cover!

Once you have drilled out the old rivets, you might think about threading the rivet holes with a 10/32 tap, and using a threaded fastener such as a stainless allen head in lieu of the rivets.

Of course, adding a custom cover, such as this 1999 X1 accessory, is always a good idea.

Drill and tap the holes. Rivets are ridiculous.

Drill rivets and lose cover.

Remove cover underneath.

The electronics are watertight, and dead weight is the enemy.
