My son Danny just traded in his Blast on a brand new '07 xb9r. We are having beautiful weather right now in Northern California so we took the Buells out for about a 100 mile ride through the foothills.

Congrats on the new bike and the quality time spent together. My dad and I both bought '08 Buells at the end of last year (his XB12R & mine XB12S). We're in Clovis, just outside Fresno if you ever get out this way give me a holler. I'm newer to riding and he's been doing it forever. I will say that I'm having the time of my life. Thanks Dad!

My son asked to ride the Buell the other day.
But until he can touch flat footed we'll just keep spending the weekends down at 4th street on these.
I ride up in your neck of the woods all the time,I've never seen any buells up there.

Time will tell.

My dad used to ride, but has long since given it up. On the other hand, my father in law just bought an 02 M2. Pretty soon we'll be bonding over the tune of duelling buells.

I have been fortunate enough to be able to have ridden with my father (him on my old FXSTS and me on the S1W). What a great feeling!!!

Yeah, Me and my father going riding a lot. Not so much right now with all this damn ice and snow. He rides a Harley superglide but he likes my 'bolt. Its a pretty cool thing to be able to go on long rides together.

My father and I do a bit of touring ourselves. This picture was taken half way through our 3600 mile trip last year.

The best thing my old man did for me was getting drunk at Brandon Harley's bike night. He ended up buying me an '07 Firebolt. Now instead of me driving my truck to bike events and parking in B.F.E., I get to ride next to the Road King and feel like I'm part of the crew.

I'm envious of those of you who have family members who ride. Due to some bad family history with bikes years ago, my wife is dead-set against bikes and is not encouraging my daughters (9 & 12) to take it up.

On the other hand, I don't have to worry about buying a bike that's comfortable for a pillion and and when I want to go riding, I don't have to coordinate with other people's schedules. But still.....

"The best thing my old man did for me was getting drunk at Brandon Harley's bike night. He ended up buying me an '07 Firebolt. "

Ouch! That may actually be worse than waking up next to an ugly woman the next morning... discovering a rather large and mysterious receipt on the nightstand!

My son was riding on the back of my Buell at Homecoming 06.

He turns 16 this November and I've been testing the water to see if he wants a Blast.
It's hard to find out what he wants because he tries to please me and will do things
he doesn't like because he thinks it's what I want. I certainly do not want to buy a
bike that he doesn't want to ride.

I went to Flint River HD/Buell in Albany, Georgia years ago for a demo ride and a slingbag. My father rode out there with me on his Goldwing. He couldn't even bend his legs enough to get them to fit on an XB9S. He physically could not ride the bike. The salesman laughed and gave him a slingbag anyway.

I inherited those knees...

my dad would take my sporty up and down the street quite a bit. Never more than around the block though, he liked it.

"Yea, this is nice!"

now that I have my Buell.

"I dont need to try and ride that, its too much."

after I demand that he rides it, I dont care if he putts down the road and back...

"well, I could cruise that."

"lemme take it down the street and warm it up for ya."

so it begins...

Not quite F & S riders, but last summer I let my 20 and 18 YO sons ride my '07 S. They both had taken the MSF course. The younger one had some time on it in a big parking lot but then started off with too little room in front of him and dropped it. Broke the shift lever, but I drilled and tapped the end for a 1/4 bolt, so I could ride while a new part was ordered. Then after the new part was on, the older boy dropped it in front of the dealer and broke the foot peg. Of course, that is when I ordered and installed frame pucks! Both boys haven't mastered clutch releasing, but we will work on that this summer. I am not a good teacher after riding since 1970, it is such a habit, I don't think about the clutch anymore.
Edit: They were both surprised when I wasn't mad about them breaking my brand new bike (first new bike in 30 years!) I told them that I got it to use, not to be some museum piece. Frankly, I kind of surprised myself.
