The seat on my XB moves fore and aft about a 1/4" when latched down, this is going to bug me I know. Can't think this is the way it's suppose to be. It's a TT with the the two up conversion kit. Wondering if this is a easy thing remedied.

The seat on my XB12Scg moves about 1/8" when latched. It appears to be due to the slop in the front plastic catch.

I ran the Buell tank bra for a while and this took up the small amount of play. I would think some single sided sticky foam may also work but I have not tried.

Maybe someone else has a more elegant solution.

stuff the tool kit with a couple more doo-dads , and place it on the bottom of the battery (makes it a little tough to insert front seat tab, but you can view tab insertion from under/front of seat) the "stuffed" tool kit will keep the seat from wiggling !( sometimes it takes some trial & error to get toolkit size & placement but it works !)

My xb12s had 2 screws missing that connected the tail section. The seat would not lock and was really loose. Make sure those bolts are tight....

My case is similar. the staples that hold the seat cover on are coming loose from under the seat in the front end where the seat meets the airbox cover. I've been to the dealer about a warranty repair and they said that Buell probably won't warranty it. They said we can try to re-staple it and see if that works. I was like ????? The bike is new just bought in Jun 07 anyone had any issues with the staples coming loose like that I've searched knowledge vault mostly loose seat issues and not staples like mine.

That just allows more room for the pucker moments, don't want to rip the vinyl off the pan!!

A week after I got my '08 Firebolt from the dealer I took the stock seat off to change to the Custom Seat, and found several of the staples pulled out around the front of the seat.

My son's '08 XB12S has the staples pulling from the seat also.

Strmvt, I have the same "staples popping" issue -- will be taking it to the dealer as well. Mine is a '07 12R, bought new. Pretty much the only thing at issue with it except the front brake lever occasionally stops activating the brake light. The the brake lever issue is a warranty fix though, so no worries on that front.

I'm planning on getting a seat custom made for the 'bolt -- so I'm not super worried, but it still sucks though. Sucks that Buell might not fix it either. Have they learned nothing from the headlights issue?

At-least I'm not the only one. Bought my bike new as well in June of 07. When spring hit's I'll run it up and have another go at the "warranty" repair again be another month or so maybe 2nd wk of april I'll dig it out.

the latches on the rear sides are adjustable up and down, you can tighten the seat this way. I guess you could use Velcro or double sided tape too, but I prefer a screwdriver.

There doesn't seem to be much "quality control" in the seat department at Buell.
My Select Seat had an inch gap above the back rail and the cover was installed off center.
