I was thinking of switching to the NGK Iridium plugs in my race bike. I have been running the Buell Pro-Series plugs. Is there any advantage to justify the extra cost?

NGK's run the best in my mazda car...but thats DOHC 24valve v-6.

Just as long as the heat rating or whatever its called is the same on both OEM and NGK I would give it a shot. They have always seemed to be the only thing to really totally smooth out the idle on my car.

How much more do those NGK's cost? it might not be worth a fraction of performance...they are a chore to change if you dont like em.

I run the aftermarket racing plug. Its a split tip/platinum. I can tell night and day between the stock and performance plugs. Its not a 20hp gain or something. But the motor runs alot smoother, starts alot easier especially in the cold(wont foul), and it engine response is alot more crisp on acceleration.

They are worht it. In my opinion.

Anecdotal evidence says the iridiums help prevent fouling. Not sure about performance.

I have been running Denso Iridium IUX 24's for about 4 years on two XB's.

Just put them in and forget them. The iridium electrodes are small and very hard, so they don't foul easily and they last a long time.

You need heat range 9 NGK Iridiums. Al at American Sportbike sells them for around $20 a set I believe. Give him a call and order a set. He says you should expect at least 30,000 miles out of them on a motorcycle.

I did notice smoother running, easier starts, and crisper acceleration when I put my set in.
