Not sure if this is where this goes but, what's the difference between the 9 and 12 muffler? I want to buy one on ebay and the guy selling it doesn't know if its a 9 or 12. He thinks that they are the same muffler.

The 12 has the active exhaust valve, the 9 does not. Thought EVERYONE knew that!

the 12 muffler has a valve on the top of it, the 9 has no valve. easy to spot looking at it from the top on the front between the chin fairing mounts is where it is located.

if this is the one you're looking at, it is for a 12. notice the valve in the second picture.

it depends Spdkls, I gutted one of mine, but left the valve operational. There is a slight difference in performance if you place a little back pressure on the exhaust with normal flow, and run the valved tube straight, the way it was originally designed.

anybody ever try to eliminate the baffle in the 2nd pipe ( in the flow ) maybe run a solid pipe on the inside of it? Would it sound and perform like a race pipe?
That way you keep the original design just making it louder?

After checking around, I found it would be more economical to just get a Jardine. Anyone got any experience (or opinions) with them?

The performance seems to be about the same on all of them from what I understand.

That sounds very interesting. I just don't have the means (tools) to try. Is that the only difference in the race pipe?

hey chris i have the carbon fiber jardine and i love the pipe...i've got about 3K on it with no issues. be warned the jardine supplied brackets may take a little tweaking to get them to fit right they are close but not quite and if you do go with the pipe use the stock header clamp the one supplied is a piece of junk and the header will leak! i did the pipe, K&N, and race ecm and all work very well together. one big difference on carbon fiber is that the CF housing does not get hot as the aluminum and the titanium do have not had to repack yet as others say they do, when last checked packing was still perfect but it will happen eventually.the longevity of my packing may have something to do with the pipe staying cooler, just a guess.pic of the pipe in my profile.

this is what i plan on doing to the stock piece.

i just need to figure what size holes for the baffle. i might do a small/big alternating sequence.
