My XB12r keeps killing Exhaust Modulators. I have been through 3 in 4000 miles. I talked to Buell CS and they told me that they will only talk to a dealer on the issue. I got the impression that they didn't believe I could follow the step-by-step fault tree in the service manual, ringing out voltages, etc. The bike otherwise performs flawlessly and I have no complaints. Anybody ever hear of ECM breaking other electrical parts? Maybe this is just the Buell god's telling me to buy an after market exhaust. I'm stumped and am fighting the idea of the dealer...but it seems like the only option for Buell help.

Sonds like a reocurring electrical issue pertaining to that circuit since the bike runs great elsewise. Maybe in the troubleshooting tree you are following you could check for shorts to ground or some really low resistances.
I tend to think the problem is not your modulator. So when you do these checks I would do them with the modulator disconnected.

I suspect you may be right, I am going to follow the harness back and look for any chaffing conditions. I would hate to tear into everything to find nothing,...I have seen that member Torq experienced something similar to me...

I am hoping he will be able to provide some insight for me and anyone else that may experience this. The only thing that stumps me is that this last actuator has worked fine for that last 2,000 miles. Something is odd for sure.
