For those of you who have the Micron system, the instructions say to use an exhaust sealer on the slip joints. Did anyone do this or is it not necessary?

Sealer will help to prevent leaks, and leaks could lead to popping. The micron serpent has a lot of slip joints, that could possibly leak. Permatex makes an ultra high temp in gray, which is what I used.

I did not use any sealant when installing my pipes. I small amount of exhaust does escape at the bend in the couplers once they are tightened. It is such a small amount that it does not hinder performance.

On my two Buells I've used Permatex Orange where the muffler slips on.

Probably barbaric, and definitely ugly, but it has worked fine so far.
