I am thinking of getting a Kick Ash cover and may consider removing the X. What's it worth? I don't want to give it away but I don't believe in gouging anyone either. | ||

Why in god's name would you ever want to remove the X??? As a "Kick Ash" cityx owner, trust me they are there for a reason. The translucent plastic is very soft, breath on it wrong and it will scratch. Unless you plan on polishing your plastic every week, just leave it be. | ||

I just took the "X" off my plastic...and from the removal I don't think it is possible to leave the cover in good shape. It left a strong residue that I had to use paint thinner on to remove. The plastic does just scuff from looking at it! I think you'd have to contact Buell to get a hero blue cover without the "X". I might be willing to sell the "X" as I took it off in very good shape and don't expect to put it on because my plastics are now painted chalkboard black! | ||

I think it's hideous, and according to my wifes CityX, it doesn't protect it from scratching where it's most likely to get scratched. If weekly polishing is what it takes then that's what I'll do. I have an endless supply of Novus and time at work so I can get paid for polishing it. | ||

I don't think it is possible to leave the cover in good shape. It left a strong residue that I had to use paint thinner on to remove I've read that if you take the X off of a brand new cover that has never been in the sun it will come off cleanly. If not I'll put it back on and live with it. | ||

Considering the only way to get a brand new "X" is to purchase the whole airbox cover, I'd be glad to pay 50% of what you paid for the airbox cover just to get the "X". I want one that bad if anyone's got a new condition one for sale. Why? Because it would be a rare mod if I had the "X" on a black airbox cover on my XB12ScgR. Just something different... | ||
