Good for you! You got off easy compared to some of the things that could have been the problem.

The 3% thing is a play on the old Hell's Angels' 1% thing, that little 1% patch they like to wear on their colors. Some years ago a major media article about outlaw bikers said that only 1% of the bikers cause 99% of the trouble. And the HA's came up with the 1% patch to make sure they were identified as being part of the troublesome segment.

A few years ago or so Buells were credited with being 3% of the U.S. or world motorcycle population, sales volume, or something like that and that was adopted as the nickname for that topic on this forum.

NO.

The Original idea was from some guys here in the ATL area that were starting a Brag chapter with the local HD shop(Stone Mountain HD/Buell) At the time Buell was 3% of Harley Davidson's total sales, Hence the name 3% BRAGging rights club.

That is the short version.

I assumed it was what Jack said (PS - already knew about the 1%ers), but thought there had to be some other backstory behind it, that it couldn't be as simple as just being 3% of all riders...

Sorry Charlie (hey, I've never been able to use that phrase when actually speaking to a Charlie), but I'm going to Blesk's "celebration" tomorrow night I think. If I don't end up doing that, you're welcome to come "help" tinker with the XB, haha

/self-threadjack Deadduck had a cool red/white/blue 3%er patch on his riding jacket. Any of those still around? /threadjack
