I ordered a black center for my chin fairing by the part #M0698.02A8AMBE

I know that some of you have ordered the part before but I have run into an issue. My bike is an 05 and the chin fairing is visibly different. I figured that the look was updated and the fit would be the same but it is not. They are not interchangeable. I just thought that I would pass this on.

Well first let me say that I seemed to have been working on my bike with too much blood in my alcohol system. The part does fit but it is different.

If you look at the area where the two #27 torx bolts go into the muffler this new chin fairing center is raised a bit more. The issue I was having was that the new center was hitting the torca clamp (the old one cleared fine). It seems to be more form fitting.

Can you post some side by side pics. I have an '08 and it would be nice to know if there's been a change.

Can you rotate the Torca clamp a little for more clearance. I had the same issue on my original center piece when I had some stuff apart. Just a thought.....

I h8 ch1n f41r1ng5!

I want to get rid of mine, but the factory race pipe is so hog-ugly underneath it, I can't!

Just another reason to get a Ti-Force exhaust, complete with headers.

speedfreaks101,

You are correct. I also have a 05 XB12Scg and purchased the black center section. The two parts look different in the lower front section as you describe. I think the chin fairing changed between 2006-2008. When did the belt guards and rear swing arm change?

Mine is torn apart right now. Odie just finished the pipe and I will put the black chin fairing on after installing the pipe.

Henry: I will see if I can get a good pic but I am afraid that I may not be able get the difference on film due to the quality of my camera and.

Odie: I did rotate the torca and it fit fine. The difference is very slight, but the new one actually fits better around the oil filter.

I need to either quit drinking or get a service plan.

Sounds like it's time to get a service plan then.

I put what may be an 03 black center on my 08 with no problem. I didnt notice a difference. I cant imagine that with a little hardware relocation that the parts arent interchangeable.

The lower part of the chin fairing, as the bike came from the factory, didn't fit right.
I drilled out the rivets, did some fitting, and bolted it on.
