Depending on how much you pay FOR the belt.
Putting it on is simple,do it yourself and its free.

+1 simple to do yourself.

My belt broke on my '03 XB, as well. It's an easy job to replace. However, it is a little time consuming if all the original belt guards are on your '03. It probably took me longer to get all those guards off than it did to loosen the axle, pop the wheel off and replace the belt.

Also, is that shop familiar with Buells? It can't be a HD/Buell Dealer at only $50 bucks an hour.

There is an upgraded belt available for the '03 models that you will want to check into. It is much stronger. Or you can do a full upgrade and install the '04 and up belt but you will have to replace the pulleys and the idler as well.
